Are gauges must have on supercharged?

OK... I will do up to four gauges. Autometer A pillar pod (dual or triple) plus a Roush vent pod.
Importance more to less:
1. air/fuel wide band
2. boost/vac
3. oil temp? or oil pressure?
4. ?

When I had my Whipple installed at Livernois I remember getting a surprising response when I asked them what gauges they recommended I run with the supercharger. I was told that for the most part they are unnecessary for a modern boosted engine unless you are hardcore racing it. If there were to be a problem with the blower or the engine you would know it immediately anyway even without all the gauges. At a bare minimum most guys that are running forced air Raptors install a boost gauge just to monitor their normal induction levels. As I understand it, this can be useful in letting you know whether the belt is maintaining proper tension, if it is loosening over time (as they do) or if you are having any belt slippage. Because of this, I went with the boost gauge only. As you can see, mine is the Ford Racing boost/vac gauge produced by Autometer in the Roush vent pod. I'm pretty happy with this setup. It is wired such that it is back lit with the headlight switch in the automatic position and the headlights on and dims with the dash dimmer. Additionally, if I want to turn the light out at night and not see the gauge all I have to do is turn the headlight switch to full on. I also like how well this gauge matches the Ford factory gauges.

The picture might be a little deceiving . Actually the placement is perfect out of view unless you glance to the left.

What is necessary for you to monitor or verify is the Air Fuel Ratio. Boost is a novelty but if you get a boost/vacuum gauge you can read vacuum which is good in the event of say a vacuum leak. If your boost gauge is fluttering at wide open throttle or struggling to build boost you might have belt slip or spark blow out from fouled plugs...so it's a good idea as well. Oil pressure isn't all that important unless you lose pressure which say if from an oil pump gear failure. In which case it's already too late and the damage is done. Fuel pressure is good to know on most vehicles but the pressure is 55lb constant in the tank on these newer Ford vehicle. Your not likely to see pressure drop, but if your having a fuel starvation issue you would see that on the Air fuel gauge. Battery Voltage is good to monitor as when loading or changing tune files it's pertinent to have a full charge.

So what I would recommend.... is our JDM Ford Racing Raptor Triple gauge package or just a boost gauge alone and monitoring the Air fuel on the X4 tuner.

Wow! That's BIG boost! Is that your truck raptor_qatar? Close to 25 psi? Am I seeing that correctly?

Iguess if you have a Whipple, a feeler gauge mmight be required to ensure you have clearence with the firewall. Sorry, could not resist after reading the cab moving requirements for some Whipple installs.
