Better late than never. Thanks for posting. I can't wait to order one. Definitely leaning toward Avalanche gray color.

Sure. The Avalanche Grey is nice but it's close to our white xSport that we have already. I'm leaning towards the tuxedo black... :)

okay finally doing it. Here's my pics from the philly show as well. Tried to get some up close detail pics of some things that I never noticed in the pics until I saw it up close and personal.

Headlights - AWESOME

Rims - Look WAY better in person than the pics. Hated the rims in pics, actually like them in person

Hood Vent - Sits more flush than ours does, but it still pulls it off nicely

Fender Vents - Still like ours better, the new ones barely have any openings, and even though ours don't really do much, they still look more functional

Seats - I believe this is the premium interior package, but the seats do look a little plain without colored stitching, and the dash without color inserts. The blue accent interior on my gen 1 looks nicer IMO with blue stitching and dark blue dash trim accents, but it's still not bad

Running boards - say raptor. Kind of prefer the slits in ours that match the fender vents

Bed - integrated LED lighting....NICE!

Tailgate trim - looks way better in person, and helps accent the truck more than just a wall of paint.

Tailpipes - they are HUGE in person! Pics are very deceiving, but look at the 2-1/2" receiver hitch for comparison. The tailpipes have got to be at least 4" diameter, if not 4.5". They look really good

Fender flares look like they're slightly lower profile than ours. Fender bulges appear larger though, where ours more gradually sweep out, the gen 2's are almost like the older flareside beds where they grow out fast. I like it!

Paint to match door handles! No more ****** black plastic! And keyless/touch handle lock/unlock! F'in sweet!

1716.jpg

Keyless entry pad on the pillar. Cleaner look, but still physical buttons (not sure if anyone has an explorer with the touch pad keyless entry, it f'ing blows!)

1717.jpg

Do you see what I see? A slot next to the cupholders between the shifter for holding a phone. NICE!

1718.jpg

Interesting how the side bumper steps up under the headlight, unlike our truck where the bumper stays straight across and beneath the headlight is body panel.

More blue = cool, stands out more.
More stickers & logos = little too busy. I like the simple clean look of the gen 1 shocks with just fox sticker on the body, and SVT engraved in the cup

1721.jpg

It almost looks like the sides of the bumpers under the headlights would unbolt, may look cool with the "bumperettes" off and really opening up the front face of the tire lol

1722.jpg

I think a hood graphic would really make this truck go from kind of plane looking, to have that iconic raptor pop vs looking a little bare

1723.jpg

Same from this angle, a bedside graphic I think would really make the truck pop

1724.jpg

Not only is this plastic piece new behind the tire on the bed to help with rock chips, the lower outer edge of the rear fender flares are flared out to help block a little more crap from making it past the fender well

1725.jpg

Again, the shocks are starting to look busy with stickers for my tastes over the simplistic fox decal & SVT engraving. They do look coated with some silver coating though, instead of just being aluminum bodies, which may be a good thing since most gen 1's with stock shocks all have crusty oxidation now on the shocks which looks like doodoo

The avalanche gray is very hard to photo, it looks more white in pics, more gray in person. It looks very wet too with it being non-metallic. I'd probably get this color if they still have it by the time I get a gen 2 in 18/19.

The superduty is a pearl white metallic, so you can get a feel for the difference in colors a little bit.

Don't the painted door handles mean more likelihood for damage?

How would you dovetail that rear quarter panel behind the wheel? The part with the new trim..

If money were no object I'd bite, but lotto odds aren't kind..

First post- hopefully you guys find it helpful. I drove down to Philly on Saturday, sorry for the cell phone pics but here they are. Couple things I noticed were the interior accents looked orange, not red. The large sunroof looked nice. The plastic vents on the hood has only 2 rows open, see the picture below.

Anyone know what this is in the last picture? Its located at the base of the windshield on the driver's side.

I wanted to grab more pictures but my kids weren't as into the truck as I was.

As for the color- I liked it a lot more in person versus the pictures. My wife on the other hand who typically likes gray cars can't stand it. I'd also add that the plastic cover on the tailgate looks better in person than in the pictures I've seen of it- I still would not opt for it though.

Most likely its a place holder for a future HUD.

.

Gimme a break, so does painted doors, painted fenders, painted hood lol. Do you want the whole truck body in ****** looking plastic?

The door handles won't get any more damage than the doors, if you're that close to stuff that's going to damage the door handles, you've got other shit getting damaged too. Heck the side steps and fender flares stick out further than the door handles.

If I'm paying $50-$60k for a truck, even an offroad truck, I don't want XL level door handles lol

The same way you'd dove tail the old ones, you could cut it and put trim on it, but look at the bed sides closer, they're already factory dove tailed to an extent. Not as extreme, but significantly more angled upwards than the old model, and the new bumper is about half the height as the old for more rear ground clearance/angle

Most likely its a place holder for a future HUD.

someone already posted some info that it's for the active brake alert or active cruise control thing, it can pop up a HUD warning type thing

Well, see, it's things like this that we can discuss without getting argumentative and abrasive about. I don't like the painted door handles, either. That's not a personal attack. It is a $60k truck, but most here use them offroad and it's going to be a bitch to polish scratches out of those. There's all kinds of branches and stuff that contact the sides of the truck without hitting the running boards. The other thing I don't like is the LED marker lights molded into the front flares like that. I've been into stuff where that is going to get damaged. I mean it looks cool, but experience says those are going to be a problem. As far as that big plastic piece at the back, I like it. But I do see some issue with dovetailing to match up with aftermarket bumper. It's hard to get plastic pieces like that to lay down flat after you cut them - but maybe it's no big deal and it's removable.....

Other than that, I think the truck looks pretty nice. Wish we could get some undercarriage shots. Maybe we all start bugging ADD to get out back and get us some?

I like the painted handles because they look a lot better and not so cheap. Its not hard to get some clear vinyl and put a strip over them to protect them from branches and whatever else might scratch them. You wouldnt have to cover the entire handle with the vinyl either, just the outer most flat part. Think of it as a screen protector for your phone but for your door handle instead. Ive done this with all my cars with painted door handles and it looks and functions fantastic as long as you apply and cut the vinyl correctly.
