I drove F250 FX4 super cab gas trucks at work (back country sheriff's office) for ten years. Towed large jet boat, search and rescue trailer and 4 place snowmobile trailers. Put 100 k miles on three of them, never had problems towing anything. Did a lot of highway and back country road driving without trailers, the ride is a little rough but the trucks didn't give us a bit of problems.

Cool thanks! Did you try to do any aftermarket stuff with the tremor? (eg suspension changes...)
I did a Carlie suspension, deavers for leafs, 55 gallon tank and power boards. The Carlie and the deavers got the ride to about 80% of a raptor. I also air down'ed the tires from 60/70 and 40 all around which helped. I had a 6.7 diesel.

EVERYTHING was a 3-5- point turn, it was heavy as hell, hard to park, but.....FUN to drive and comfy.

Just curious if anyone has switched from a 3/4 truck to a raptor. I have a raptor now and will be looking to trade it in soon. I pull my boat 5-6k lbs about once or twice a month 100 miles or so. I would love something that pulls it and you don't even know it's back there. But I also daily my truck and so I would like something that doesn't feel so big and awkward around town. I was leaning toward the 37 raptor or a TRX, but have just read so many mixed reviews on towing. Some say they are great and some say they hate towing with them lol. I have a gen 2 and so I hear towing is better with the gen 3 but I got a feeling I might still wish I had something bigger. I am leaning toward the 2024 AT4X...I like the creature comforts (nice interior, heads up display, massage seats...) but also the power and "off-road" capability. Just not sure about how the ride quality will differ from my gen 2 raptor. Also wouldn't know whether to go with gas or diesel v8. I haven't ruled out the SD either... And I know I need to go test drive some but it's just not possible right now. There's no trucks in my area that are available to test drive and I also have no time. So just trying to do the majority of my research online and then will narrow it down. So, I guess what I'm asking is: for those who have switched from 3/4 to 1/2, was it a huge difference and are you happy with your decision? thanks!
Hello,
I had a 2020 F250 SD king ranch edition and ended up trading it for a new 2023 F150 Raptor Gen3 and let me tell you I've never been so happy since I got the Raptor....., night and day difference specially on the ride and comfort, the suspension is the best, I wouldn't buy another SD unless is necessary for a large vessel or heavy equipment towing, now I can't speak much for the towing part on the Raptor since I got rid of my boat before getting the Raptor but I asured you that for towing a 5k-6k boat you shouldn't have an issue specially that you are under the towing capacity of 8,200 pounds as per Ford specs...
Very happy with my 3gen Raptor 2 thumbs up!!!

Thanks! Did you ever consider a TRX? Sounds good though about the raptor! Great info!

I have 2019 F250 diesel and 2018 2nd Gen. I haul a 5,500# aluminum boat (26’) and 1,000# trailer across country a few times a year. I also haul a 30’ travel trailer 150 miles 2 times a year with the diesel. I wouldn’t want to haul the boat across country with a Raptor, but down to the local lake on weekends wouldn’t be terrible. No way I would consider hauling the travel trailer with a raptor. Consider your boat fully loaded w/fuel and gear. The truck loaded with passengers, coolers loaded with fish and gear. The weight adds up quickly.
The diesel has far superior stopping power, IMO more important than hauling power. Just my $0.02
