Anyone see the Ford oil consumption warnings this week?

Is anyone actually seeing their oil level go down?

Mine is fixed at 3/4 full where the dealer filled it to.

Are you new to this forum? There are many reports here. You know it was a widespread, huge issue for Ford to make the release they did.

Well on the plus side at least it’s something simple like valve covers and not like the piston rings

interestingly enough I know 3 brothers that are in a pavement marking business and live in my town. all three traded 2 years ago their 14 Raptors and bought 3 2017 trucks....they do idle a lot for work and indeed are down to 3k mile oil change intervals due to the above mentioned oil consumption that Ford said was normal last year.....they were told the turbos would be the main cause.

Curious how oil consumption would lead to 3k mile oil changes? Are you saying the trucks running out of oil after 3k miles, so they have the oil changed?

I can certainly understand how extended idle would make the oil change sensor go off sooner.

seems internet rumors of a v8 for the Raptor would definitely be a step down in reliability and durability. good thing the ecoboost is here to stay.

this is not a new development for the 3.5 in the F150.

Oil consumption memos are commonly issued by all manufacturers to indemnify them against warranty claims, not to help consumers. They’re made to provide a generous consumption threshold to keep them in the black. Anyone who’s ever had a vehicle that used oil under warranty knows this because the service advisor no doubt shocked you at the amount of oil the manufacturer considered “acceptable”.

this is not a new development for the 3.5 in the F150.

Looks like the issue affects units made well past that date too. Mine was built the last week of 2018 production and was very low on oil @ 6k miles with no visible leaks.

I do 5,000 mile oil changes. I have 20,000 miles on my 2018. I check on the level about ever 2 weeks. Only use I have ever seen, is at the time of the oil change. Even then it is only about 1/4 quart down from full.

My wife's 2015 Impala uses about the same.

My 2005 Corvette would use about a quart in that same period.

Guys, gals - you’re being trolled here.

These memos are nothing more than the factory telling dealers what is an acceptable level of oil consumption. Every factory does it.

Of course there are oil using 3.5’s. You all did see the 5.0 and 5.2 oil links above right? They’re way more problematic than the ecoboost.

Oil consumption affects every make, model and brand across the platform range.

2018+ Navigator uses the Raptor Motor, so while it's not specifically mentioned, it is in fact, included in this TSB.

Whatever, if you're worried about it, check your oil levels.

Like others, I've never owned a vehicle that didn't consume oil to some extent.
