So I’ve done a little digging but can’t seem to find any info to help me make this decision. Info about my truck 2023 with a tire rack installed in the bed. Not a ton of room anymore so it’s not a huge loss.

I want to remove my tail gate but with it being a power tail gate I’m sure it’s not as simple as it used to be. But as I stated I can’t really find any info to dissuade me from going through with it. I’m sure I just didn’t search the right word combination, therefore missing the obvious answer…. Can anyone enlighten me as to weather this could potentially be a bigger problem then it’s worth ?
I think there is a plug you install on the end of the wire harness that remains on the truck. This has to be installed before you start or drive your truck. Check your owner's manual, and your glove box for the plug. My 22 came with the plug and Line-X used it when they did my bed liner.

Awesome thank you! I’ll double check the glove compartment.

Unfortunately we got snow last night so unless it warms up I’ll be couch bound today.

Alright it warmed up enough so i pulled the tail gate. Theres 3 plugs you have to cap then pull through the opening. Then un-clip the cables and remove a screw on the passenger side. Rotate up and pull out, then rotate up some more and pull the driver side out.

On start up I get a warning that the tail gate is ajar but you click ok and that’s it. I’m going to reach out to the dealership and see if I get them to turn that warning off. If not no big deal, I can live with that.

I need to get a metric torx set to remove the the hinges and studs still, I was hoping I had the sizes, but obviously why would I…IMG_3045.jpeg

I was gonna say that you should be able to turn it off with forscan. I turned off the TPMS, and should be able to turn off the seat belt minder once I have some time.

I need to get a Forscan so I can do this and get rid of the TPMS.

I’m probably going to finish off the gray with some bed liner as well.

Also I need to look it a rear bumper swap to finish of the look.
