anyone actually at the Detroit show??

Hello I sure everyone seen the Detroit vids and pics etc; has anyone actually been to the unveil? 2 big questions came up

1 several had stated that the 4 door version will be bigger the the actual F150 version; do you think it will be based on the super duty frame?? which may explain the long delay in release etc
2 someone posted a pic of a V8 engine very close to the raptor; I know all Ford is saying its the eco boost etc just found it odd that it would be displayed like that maybe similar to the 5.4 version in the first Raptor and then the 6.2 was later added

Orange display model at the Houston Auto show. It was locked and had terrible wheels on it. I talked to a Ford rep and he said it was "just there to give people a taste". I hope a different one is in town for the rodeo. I want to see the wheels shown on the internet in person.

There is a blue one at the DC auto show...Unfortunately, like above it had ugly wheels, was completely locked, solid black leather seats (e.g., no trim, maybe a very subtle off black/charcoal but very hard to differentiate), no gold shocks (e.g., looked like Gen 1 rears just in reversed position) and no badging besides the tailgate.

Almost every front suspension pic I've seen shows what looks to be an aluminum steering knuckle (or maybe it's painted for some odd reason). How would an aluminum knuckle compare in strength to the gen one cast steel that when ran hard enough bent/broke?

If it is aluminum, are we looking at a good thing or bad thing?

I agree. I'm hoping that for the show trucks they are using the new regular F-150 knuckle and that the new Raptor knuckle is in production to be installed on the Gen 2 trucks.

Other wise, there will be a lot of upgrades available.

That's a reasonable possibility. I've also seen a couple, what appear to be, aluminum upper control arms in some pics. The u/c would have to be raptor specific components due to the longer length. If production model does end up being aluminum, with the weight reduction, it should make the steering feel way more responsive. Plenty of sport and economy oriented vehicles have aluminum arms/knuckles, but with the amount of abuse the suspension takes on the raptor, I'd feel cautious.

I can't belive they would go 3.0 up front and NOT strengthen the knuckle.
