Any negatives to removing the spare under the bed?

Apologies if this has been asked before, I tried searching various phrases to find the information first.

I have an 801a '23 that I bought new in 11/2023 and within 2 weeks had purchased/installed some Raptor R takeoffs with 37's. I sold off my original 4 wheels/tires; I did not purchase an "R" 5th/spare and I just left my stock spare with the 35" tire under the bed.

Seeing as this wheel and tire would not be usable with my setup, would there be any downsides to removing it? The only thing I could think of would be a minor weight savings (70 lbs maybe?) but that might cause more forward rake on the truck's stance?

If you look in the rear wheel wells without the spare it looks like well… something is missing. Lol. I have bed mounted mine.

I would not go without a spare. One of my 37's was slashed in the parking lot. Roadside assistance helped me to install the spare. Those sidewalls are delicate to my surprise.

This gives you an excuse to run a tire carrier in the bed.. like the ones the Ford Raptor Assault Program uses from Impulse Off-Road (Toole, UT).

Yeah, since I have R wheels with 37" tires and my current spare is an 801a wheel with a 35" tire, its essentially useless to me. I'd eventually pick up a 5th R wheel with 37" tire at some point

You can keep the existing spare wheel and just swap to a 37" tire on it - it will still fit under the bed just fine.

And while not ideal, you could run a 35" tire on a front wheel, in 2 wheel drive to at least get you off the trail - so I would say it is better than nothing at all.

Yup. Not ideal, but a 35" tire in the short term, short distance limp > flat tire.

I have two spares in the bed, one of which was originally underneath the truck. I found it was best to also remove the OEM spare tire cable assembly which is now sitting in a box in my garage.
