Are you suggesting the straps if he went the Mickey Thompson route or straps for 37's in general? I just put factory K02 37's on and need to swap out my spare from a 35 to a 37. I have seen people say you do need a strap and some say you don't.
I doubt the MT would fit under the bed. It might fit but will end up dangerously close to the panhard bar. The K02s are not problem.

Yes even with the stock 37s a strap is a good idea. If you’re not off roading the truck then you probably wouldn’t have it rub without a strap. This is with a 37 KO2 and a strap pulling it back a little but not as much as possible. It fits but it’s not like there’s loads of clearance with the strap pulling it back. Without the strap it was about an eighth of an inch off the panhard bar. If I remember right the KO2s are about 0.5” smaller in diameter than a true 37 so a true 37 would fit as well but would need a strap even just driving around on the road.
