I'm sure someone at the dealer saw your truck sitting there without an antenna on it, first thought was that someone stole it off your truck while on their lot. So someome put one back on. VERY THOUGHTFULL of them, BUT it sounds like they OVER TIGHTEN IT, and now it's just spinning instead of backing out. Nothing magic to taking it off, just unscrews.

just my .02

Swoop,

Does the radio work?
Yes.

Reverse theft. Interesting concept. Only in America, probably.

It sounds like that well meaning dufus who replaced your antenna over tightened it and stripped the threads. You will have to PULL UPWARDS on it as you turn it. It might take a second set of hands. If you can't get it off, I suggest that you return to the dealership, tell them the story, and ask for a repacement antenna base.

Then go to your local auto parts store. If yours is anything like mine, you can get a 17 inch antenna whip with a variety of screw choices that will enable you to mount a short antenna that won't bang on your garage door every time you pull in and out. I've got one, and there's degradation in radio reception because there's more windings per inch. It o ught to cost you ten or twelve bucks.

Ruger, thanks for the post. I normally leave my antenna off, anyway. I never use the local radio, ever. But I guess in times of horrid weather, it would come in handy. I should get a stubby from Craven -- just haven't yet.

Swoop.... You're actually not the only one... I guess some of the '11s have that issue. When I met up with SPRSNK I noticed he had the stock antenna.... I asked him why because he won an FRF contest and we shipped him a Cravenspeed Stubby. I asked "did you not like the Stubb or something?" he said "no I haven't been able to get the stock one off!". I was like "whaaaat? You just unscrew it with your hand, look...." sure enough, his would not move when I tried hand-turning it, at that point I noticed his antenna base had tool marks all over it... He'd tried wrenching it off and got nowhere. The weird thing is, Brochacho also got a Stubby, he also has a 2011 screw and his stock antenna came off by hand, normally, the same way they do on all of our 2010s.... Maybe someone at the factory changed something? ...I dunno, but you should check in with SPRSNK and see what ever became of his antenna. You poor guys are rockin' The Stubborn instead of The Stubby.
