Except metal would absorb (conduct) more heat which is a bad thing for intake temps so in this case, plastic is actually preferred.
That's why you wrap them to prevent heat soak from outside sources, plus plastics break down over time with heating and cooling.

didn’t someone post on here about wrapping the intake tube and dropping their IAT by some fairly significant number?

Got a set. Will install this soon. With mountune intercooler when I get a chsnce. Excellent packaging. This is plastic, not metal. Sorry if pictures are big, first time posting pictures. Will probabap wrap this in something first

possibly sunday, i can't comment on how hard this will be as i plan to have my front bumper replaced, so i'll be taking everything apart.
