do the amber floods light up the area to the side were a deer might be standing?

---------- Post added at 08:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:01 AM ----------

seems like the spots should be clear and the floods amber

I'm running D2 white in driving pattern on the outside and dually spots on the inside. The D2's are very bright and if you have them set up correct you will blind on comi g traffic. I adjusted mine more to the out side and threw on the amber covers and I've not been flashed. And I have the ability to have white or amber lights when and where I would need them. So I agree with mobilebeats

So judge for yourself. I my setup is D2 driving white on the inside and D2 wide ambers on the outside.

Only the ambers.

Well judging from those pics the whites wash out the amber almost completely. I take it you have the OEM HIDs? They pretty much wash out the amber too.

I'm starting to think that unless I go with a amber light bar that's bright enough to use with my HID head lights the amber D2s will be more for daytime and for show in the evening with the running lights on. I'm starting to think I might just skip the amber and do D2 floods on the outside and spots on the inside?? Who knows I need to hit up a raptor meet up and see for myself in person, I'm sure pictures don't do any justice

How do you like the D2 driving pattern?

Yes I do have the OEM HIDs. I like the d2's they have done what the have advertised. In fact they are about as bright as my sock HIDs. Right now I use the ambers just as running lights. I will probably replace them with the d2 amber driving pattern at some point. I like I said earlier I am going to get some lights from wsi that should help turn night into day.

Here are some more pics that will give you an idea of the difference with the Amber D2 driving lights. The pics really don't do any of the lights justice, especially the Whelens.

Pic 1 - Headlights only
Pic 2 - Headilghts + D2 driving amber
Pic 3 - Headlights + D2 driving white
Pic 4 - Headlights + D2 amber + D2 white
Pic 4 - Headlights + D2 Amber + D2 white + Whelen Micro Pioneers Spot

I like the amber D2 driving lights. They do not provide as much usable light as the white D2s but I can run them at night for a little bit of added visibility to the side of the road without blinding oncoming traffic. They should also work better than the white lights in snow and dust. If I need more distance than the D2s can provide, I can switch on the Whelens spots which really light up the night. An added bonus is that the Whelens come with changeable lenses included (Spot, flood, wide & dispersion).

Thank you much for all the pics... Those OEM HIDs are bright....ill prob throw some rigid E series 4 inch spots on either side of my license plate.

Was thinking of putting a larger light bar behind the grill instead of the 4 inch but don't like the thought of spending all that money for the grill to block a lot of the light. From what I've seen I feel the HIDs will cover most of what the light bar behind the grill will do.

My build date is 12/9 so trying to figure this all out so I can have everything waiting when she gets here.

This forum and all the members are great!! Thank you all for being so patient and providing such great first hand information ! Really helps

From what I've seen in pictures only.... It looks like since the addition of the OEM HIDs the D2s don't help nearly as much when we only had regular headlights. I'm sure the D2s if angled outward more will help light up a wider area of the road but that's about all. Don't get me wrong I'm fine with this to help spot deer.

How accurate would you guys say this is?

This is accurate. That's how I'm running mine and I just put my amber covers on so it dulls the white but you can stll see the sides of the road with no issues.
