Am I crazy for Considering a Raptor?

Get it! I've put 63,000 miles on mine and haven't regretted one of them.

I've spent nothing* on it but gas, regular maintenance (oil and tires), and one marker light burnt out just last week (I did snap the driveshaft, but that was totally my fault and it was covered under warranty).

I've always gotten 12.8 mpg no matter what. The engine doesn't seem to care at all about the 400lbs I now have in the bed at all times. The 5 Star 91 perf tune probably helps there.

If you can handle the difference in mpg between the 6.2L and the ecoboost (which is only like 2 mpg) then you have nothing else to even consider.

I drive 20k+ a year and mainly highway miles. I have driven regular F150s and have a Mustang GT that mostly sits in the garage. I prefer the ride of the Raptor over anything I have driven in the past or present. I prefer the Raptor on long road trips vs the Mustang, which means I'm choosing 15mpg over 24mpg on 500+ mile road trips.

Pretty strong statement there! Says a lot about the Raptor, at least for me because I love Mustangs! Although I still like the late 80s early 90s Mustangs best. I'm hoping this Raptor gets me in drive mode as quickly as my 88GT did back in the day. As soon as the key was turned!!!

Dont get me wrong, I absolutely love driving the mustang. I just dont drive it in the rain and it has rained a lot lately. I've had all kinds of fast Fords, starting with the '93 LX 5.0 Notchback to a 2003 Lightning and many in between. The new 5.0 is an absolute beast that will run 12.8's all day from the showroom. Put a tuner, exhaust and intake and knock off at least a second on street tires. I am actually seriously missing my Lightning right now and I am considering getting rid of the mustang for an L, but I just cant get past how fast this car is and it gets 23-25 mpg on the highway.

I say go for it.

I almost bought an f150 platinum last year but the deal did not work out. A month later I saw a Raptor in one of the lots and I knew I had to get one. Don't go crazy with the numbers, you can't put a number on everything in life. Now keep in mind that you can order a truck from factory at invoice or close to it. Slow down and don't let the dealer give you sticker or more.

Do it. Just don't put the display on avg mpg and you'll be a happy camper. When I first got mine I watched that thing constantly. After turning it off I don't even think about it. I think it lies anyway. Also the SCREW has the bigger gas tank for your long trips.
