I took my M3 in to the dealership to have some work done.

Come summer time I wanted to use my AC. Didn't work.

They forgot to put the belt back on the compressor. I also found a ratchet in my bumper that a tech left.

Took mine into Firestone to have alignment done after I did the mid perch mod. Next day I came home from work and smelled something that was out of ordinary. Looked under hood and power steering resevoir cap was missing. Called them and of course they had not touched it. Receipt showed 21 point courtesy check. Now I get to buy a $25 cap.

Dang thats a pretty bonehead thing to do. I am always on the edge when I take my truck in. My old Trailblazer SS went to the dealership once.. It just put me over the edge when I saw it crammed in between a couple freight liners and some dude trying to wedge between those to get in the door. Since then Ive done everything on my own or throw some cash to my guy up the street that helps with more difficult things.

I have since left the car sales arena but working for a dealership really opens yours eyes to how people really take advantage of you and don't give a shit about your car or opinion haha

I used to work in a garage and even had a tech over torque my wheels to where I needed to new studs.

Things happen and people make mistakes. Good to double check their work so you don't have to worry about it later.

Used to do all my own maintenance. Kids keep me busy so I can only do some of the maintenance these days.

Bad news about the oil cap! On the bright side, you caught it before the oil level got low enough to cause damage. Hope you got the engine cleaned up OK.

I agree, I like working on my truck, but sometimes I wonder what my time is worth. For $40, synthetic blend oil/filter and tire rotation. Add a $10 off coupon, and it's hard to beat.

Unless of course your dealer leaves your cap off and ***** all your shit up. Good luck!

Well update, I called and talked to the service manager today and he said he was completely shocked by this. He told me the guy who services the truck was a senior mechanic 65 y/o and is one of his best guys. i told him it was no problem, i understand people make mistakes. The service manager insisted on me bringing the truck in and getting a full oil change and get cleaned up on them. Set up an appointment for friday. Will update after the appointment on Friday, but he seemed willing to make things right which was nice of him to do.

My dealership gave me free oil changes for life when I bought mine and I still do it myself with Amsoil because I'm worried something like this might happen or worse. A buddy of mine had his engine seize up because his dealership actually forgot to put oil back in it when they were done and he didn't check it. Granted it was a Dodge dealer and it probably would have blown on it's own lol but it still sucked for him. Then again I can't really talk I forgot to put the cap on one time on another truck I had and by the time I realized it my entire engine bay was coated in oil. Never had to worry about rust under my hood after that lol.

Hey everyone makes mistakes what matters is how they handle it and it sounds like your dealership is making it right so thats all that matters. Glad to see it worked out for you buddy.
