Airbags?

A couple of people have reached out and asked. The last comment I read was that Air Lift has a bag they think would work but needs to test.
They are looking for someone near their facility to be the test mule.

If I were closer, I'd volunteer. I'd love to know this information myself.

@MrHomeGuy - also wondering what was asked earlier in this thread: were you able to slide the bags in through the sides of the springs or did you have to take them off the perches?
I had the spring shop install the dodge HD inside coil bag. They said it was just easier to remove the coils for the install. Holding good so far for 2500 miles with no load. Will add load in April test.

I don't suppose. you have the dimensions for the stock rear springs for the Gen 3? The shop I use sells Firestone airbags, so I assume the 2022 Dodge 1500 Firestone Coil-Rite rear kit would fit the same as the Airlift kit? Here's a link to the airbags I'm talking about.

I was drawn to the Airlift dodge coil air bag as my spring shop recommended Airlift.

What’s the point? A Tremor would be better.
The Tremor is the better vehicle for payload. My dealer had one but with a crew cab. Had a good test drive, Overall, I thought is was too long and a bit high. I am hoping to find a SCAB to keep the length the same as the Raptor to fit in the garage and a standard parking space. I can keep the tailgate on and closed when the Scout Camper is loaded.

I've used the Airlift 1000 with the spacers provided successfully a few times now with no issues. I think it's probably best they are short of making contact 100% of the time that way you're getting a few inches of movement unloaded for a normal everyday ride experience. Then when you are loaded you squat to level and the bags keep it level for towing/hauling. Ultimately it would be great if there was something engineered for this specific application.

The specs say it'll only give you 1,000 lbs of load leveling and the max PSI is 35? Is this even really very helpful?

Hey guys Air Lift just came out with a gen3 specific kit. Part # AIL60865 , got mine from Michigan Truckspring, didn’t install it yet, but looks good.
Fantastic - that’s what I was waiting for. If anything, to mitigate any future warranty issues that could arise from using an “improper” kit of there was a problem with the shocks etc…

It looks like the airlift 1000kit with a different spacer that goes under the bag. Need to check the dimensions though. Wonder if this is designed to be able to off-road with minimal air pressure to allow for articulation of the coil spring. I am going to give them a call on Monday to see if someone can explain to me the differences and the thought behind the bottom spacer. Thanks for posting this up @22R37

I think the bottom spacer is designed to protect the air bag from the sharp protrusions only and has nothing to do with off roading or anything else

I thought the same thing at first but I don't recall that spot having edges that made me concerned. Well, more to come.
 
Top
