AFE vs Roush Cold Air Intake

Hey guys, I've been a member on the forums for a while but haven't posted much at all so go easy on me here haha :) I recently traded in my Gen 1 2011 for a Gen 2 2019. Simply loving this new truck in every way over the Gen 1 except the same complaint I think all us Gen 2 owners have and that being the sound of the V6. That said at the moment the truck is stock. Exhaust will be something down the road that I do but I figured I would start out by letting the truck breath better first. I have done some research and at the moment have it narrowed down to the Roush CAI and the AFE Magnum Force Stage-2. Let me be clear that I am not chasing HP here or overly interested in getting into tuning etc. I am simply trying to enhance the audible notes of the truck and the wind up of the Turbos. Im sure there are some wizards when it comes to CAI on here and am interested which route between these two options you would go :)

I have a CAI and the sound difference isn't that great I only have it installed bc it came with a kit...the exhaust is much bigger difference.

I doubt either of the CAI designs breathes *that* much better than a K&N drop in performance filter. I'd save your $1K and do exhaust first instead.

I have the AFE Super Raptor and it did not change the sound at all. I don’t even get the typical whoosh at wot. Save your money towards getting a tune. Enjoy the silence as you go flying by everyone.

With the ‘quiet cab’ they moved to you need the windows down to hear anything over the fake noise coming from your speakers. Probably anything sounds the same. I have a Cobb. It’s nice with the window down and doesn’t exist otherwise.

Thanks for the replies :) I'm really surprised to hear all of you say that it doesn't make that much of a difference. Especially Quaesta as I've seen some videos of the Super Raptor CAI on YouTube and the turbos all sounds like they're just screamin. One thing to keep in mind I suppose is that Roush supposedly offers a warranty that if Ford doesn't cover you due to the CAI that they will cover you for 3 years. Also correct me if I'm wrong but Ford and Roush have a history of working together on projects no?

It’s just marketing bs. Pick the one that you like to look at. Put your windows down to hear it. They all do the same. Just a little louder and cooler looking than the stock one.

I have a Cobb CAI, and the sound difference is minimum at best with the windows down at 1/4 throttle around 2500 RPM when you can hear a slight turbo spool sound. It makes zero difference in HP as you already know.

If sound is what you’re going after, forget the CAI and get an exhaust of your choice.

If you’re willing to go with a tune (every member here will recommend it) then a CAI isn’t a bad ingredient.
