If I don't warm it up, it has a serious reduction in power when it's cold, in the RPM range below 4K it's almost useless... Anybody else experience that? Once warmed up it's fine again, but when the engine is cold I have NO power until 4000+ RPM.

Same here.

I wonder if this is a stock tune to enhance environmental operation.
Though it could be an equipment protection tune feature.

After an hour of grinding, I was able to clean up the welds. Not perfect, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Does your stage 2 tube have a curve in it? When i got mine from 5 star it is just a straight tube.

Maybe the torque converter is wearing-out?

Sounds like a good topic for a new thread. Bet the technicians could help with this.

I have that too. It revs to 4grand before shifting and is just gutless. Its a warm up mode that the truck goes into. When I get on the street at 60 my truck is around 1800 but when its warm the RPMs will suddenly drop to 1600. Pretty cool feature. It will save you from blowing anything with a cold motor
Thought maybe that was the case, although above 4K the power still rips... So that seems odd if it's an equipment protection feature?

I am guessing you guys complaining about no power have never driven a old carburetor vehicle when its cold...LOL... Take it back to the dealer and tell them when its cold it has no power but when it warms up its fine...

If its an abnormal problem, I would... If its designed to do that, I'll save myself the trip and not look stupid! Haha

Greg, this might be of interest to you and to others who want the intake air as cool as possible. After a normal drive I noticed that the intake tube was very, very warm to the touch. I thought some kind of insulation might mitigate that, and found it at Auto Zone in their performance section. It's called Thermo Shield. It's not for exhaust use, but it works just fine in this intake application. See photo.

If the primary heat source of your intake tube is conduction of heat from the motor heads and plenum, the shield will not protect from that heat source. It would even retard its cooling.
