aFe CAI filter question

Gonna put an afe intake on my truck when I get it later this week.
Is everyone running the filter that comes in the box, or are there better filters to put in that are more functional? - I live in AZ where off roading is very sandy/dusty, at times will take up to Flagstaff (snow)

Will a powercore filter fit on the end of an aFe system? (Sorry if that is a dumb question)
