Would USB-C add any better sound quality or would it just offer quicker charging?

I don't really understand your question, but I think this should answer it anyway.

USB is a standard for sending 1's and 0's down a cable. USB-C is a specification for a type of connector on said cable. Digital signals are just 1's and 0's, not audio, so any audio quality affects would either be at the source where analog sounds are converted to digital files or when those digital files are converted back to analog audio.

The easiest thing to understand is a USB-C to headphone adapter. That little cable has a DAC built into it, so an expensive one could really produce better audio. Contrasting something like Apple CarPlay or Android Auto where the DAC is built into the head-unit, the cable or connector is going to make absolutely no difference; the signal is binary, it either gets there or it doesn't.
