Some 2022 Mustang Shelby GT500 and 2023 F-150 Raptor R vehicles built on 1-Aug-2022 and through 20-Feb-2023 may exhibit an engine oil leak from the front of the engine. This may be due to a crankshaft front oil seal that is out of position and leaking. To correct the condition, replace the crankshaft front oil seal. Workshop Manual (WSM) procedures for crankshaft front oil seal replacement have been updated.

Thank you. I gave it to the service folks over the phone. They haven’t even seen a Raptor R so that was really helpful they looked it right up.

Looks like I'm going to have to put an oil drip pan on my driveway (to protect my pavers lol) under my brand new 140k truck!

Haha no crap. They got me in for tomorrow so hopefully I can get out in a week or so now that Ford has this identified.

Question for those that know. I know nothing about crank seals etc.

Is the engine oil feeding this or is it a separate reservoir?

Nothing is feeding it oil. It’s a lip seal; its purpose is to isolate the internal engine components from the external components. So essentially keep oil in while keeping dirt/contamination out. The inner part of the seal has a tapered lip that rides on the crank snout and keeps oil from wicking out of the front cover. If the seal is not square with the crank, it will essentially be an oval sealing surface and a leak path will develop.
