Yes, on my Gen-1 living in MN I had rust after 6months. I sent photos & they partly covered cost to get them Rhino lined. Now on my Gen-2 I just got them covered immediately. I agree for what they cost you'd expect a more durable finish.

2-not salt. Mag Chloride. Not great stuff, but doesn’t cause rust like salt does.
Mag chloride is nasty stuff. I work in the transportation maintenance department for a county near Portland OR, where we maybe get a couple inches of snow a year. Regardless, they use mag chloride anytime temps get close to freezing.
I regularly visit the shops where the trucks that apply the MgCl are maintained and speak with the mechanics. I recently had a conversation with one of them about how corrosive that stuff is. The frames and undercarriage hardware is just rotting away after just a few seasons. One of the guys in the shop actually has a Gen 1 Raptor and refuses to take it out on MgCl treated roads after seeing first hand how corrosive it is.
I know this isn't entirely relatively but thought it was some good for for thought...

I am confused. What are you talking about? We are talking about aftermarket bumpers and not stock ones.

Just had my stock bumper blasted and repainted by Ford. I called customer service and said they needed to fix the issue, as it shouldn't happen to a 2018 vehicle. Just got the truck back with a freshly painted bumper. Ford know it is an issue.

Yeah, the mag is nasty stuff. I have a membership at the car wash by my house and I wash all our cars right away, even if the roads are still wet. I can go through once a day, so I'll use it a ton. Lots of surface rust on the frame as well, pretty poor coatings all around I guess. ADD apparently changed their process, and sent me two cans of the textured paint to touch up. I'm thinking if I have to pull all the panels off I'll instead get them cerakoted or raptor liner them. I guess at least I'm not the only one! For the cost, you'd expect better finish.
