Has anyone tried modifying the plastic underside of the center console lid to actually hold real items?

The "cell phone" holder is a joke. I may dremel off the bottom part of the plastic for the "cell Phone" holder and strap in the case for my Pelican flashlight. Any thoughts on how to remove/modify the "mp3" holder and add a way to mount a knife (i.e. SOG Seal Pup Elite)?

Would be great if there is already a product that just replaces the current plastic underside of the center console lid...

Agreed. This is how I use mine:

"MP3 Player": Tissues
"Cell Phone": Cash
Little clip thingy: iphone cord
Pen holder: Air gauge

:peace:

I also keep my air gauge in the pen holder since my pen would fall out everytime I closed the lid! yeah I know I need a fatter pen and yes the wife says the same thing! :ROFLJest:

Glad I started this thread. Lots of great ideas being generated here.

Another attachment idea is to take the inner lid off and drill small holes around the perimeter of where the MOLLE panel will go, and then sew the panel to the lid using multiple strands of heavy duty nylon upholstery thread.

I will be very interested to see how you attach and equip this panel.

I think this is a good approach to keep it low profile, otherwise whatever you attach will hit the tray in the console every time you close the lid.

I keep pens in the "PEN" holder haha.

I keep my iPhone cable in the hook.

I keep back up magazines for my CCW and truck gun in the MP3 holder.

I keep an auxiliary cable for other phones and mp3's in the phone clip.

Would have liked if the ginormous console also had some sort of divider system. As Birdman pointed out, various stuff gathers in there and for me turns into a mess and still have wasted space. What I have done so far is to place a small canvas tool bag in the console with my maglite next to it. Still hoping to figure out a better system. For the lid, totally agree, what was the design team thinking??? The molle idea sounds workable but I'm not yet 100% on going this way yet.
