I've wondered about this for a year. SVT got the engineering right on so many challenging and technical things, and then had a mental siesta when it came to the plastic underside of the center console lid? Weird.

I, too, use the MP3 thing for business cards. The pen holders won't hold either pens or tire pressure gauges, and the rest of the design is equally useless. What would work would be a modular MOLLE approach.

I like the MOLLE idea..it would be nice if a company made one that we could unscrew ours and put it on there

I think that the MOLLE idea would be possible, but that it would require removal of the factory underside of the lid and replacement with a special purpose one. I work in wood and metal, not plastic, so I'm not sure how to go about it.

Metal would work as well.

Greg, I think that MOLLE panel from LAPoliceGear would work. It's 6"x7" and the recessed part of the lid is 7"x8.5". To use it you'd have to grind/cut off the cell phone, MP3, and other do-dads on the underside of the lid and attach the MOLLE panel.

I ordered it.. Going to "attempt" to mock something up before the Texas run...

A couple of alumimum plates on both sides of plastic liner. 3m heavy duty velcro and a couple of nuts, bolts, and washers.

Looking at the inside of the lid, if the damn mp3 holder wasn't so large you could mount it without destroying lid liner..

Another attachment idea is to take the inner lid off and drill small holes around the perimeter of where the MOLLE panel will go, and then sew the panel to the lid using multiple strands of heavy duty nylon upholstery thread.

I will be very interested to see how you attach and equip this panel.
