This will likely start a $H1+ storm, but WTF? As far as I'm concerned they have ruined a perfectly good Raptor. We buy Raptors because they are a street legal, specially built limited edition with a very, very good suspension that works on and off road. The suspension is what really makes the Raptor a Raptor. Get rid of the SVT suspension and all you have is a F-150 with good seats and cool badges.

To me, this makes as much sense as buying Z06 Corvette and replacing everything that makes it a Z06. If your going to replace all the distinguishing hardware anyway, why not just build out a base model into what ever you want?

I completly disagree, Ford set out to build 1 truck, and they talked to the right people and built it, tested it and got it back to the factory and tore it apart as well as copied others work. I've talked with 3 of the designers and builders and maybe I've gotten more info than most will because of my dezert and truck building knowledge, but they(Ford) destroy the truck and now were left with 11/12 inch of travel when at one testing point it was at much more. Ford had many reasons on why they did this, but just because someone builds something doesn't mean you or I can't come in a build it stronger to go faster in the dirt.

A good friend of mine wrote that article and loved the truck. Which means a lot considering he shoots the best of the best daily

I think that kit looks badass. I love my Raptor for what it does, but after finding it's limits, I've found myself wanting even more. Someday down the line I'd like to do an LT kit like this one or the SDHQ/ICON kit that will be coming out. I agree with AII, the Raptor is an amazing truck, but, from a performance aspect there's nothing that says you can't improve upon what Ford has already given us.

bagging and lowering a Raptor on 26" rims would ruin it but improving on someone's good idea is just a form of flattery.

I definitely understand the argument from the other side of the table though....

"why not just buy an F150 and pre-run it out with LT and mods?"

From a budget aspect it makes much more sense, but if you can afford to buy a Raptor AND do stuff like this and will use the added performance.... then **** it, why not?? ...best of both worlds.

That being said, I probably won't do anything else to my suspension besides Deavers, bump stops, removed swaybar, and the shock perch mod until my Fox warranty expires.

Eventually things will wear out/break and need replaced. Might as well upgrade when the time comes.

Just wish this review was more in depth.

You can say shit btw

Living in Arizona I see a lot of trucks that can probably go faster in the dirt than a Raptor. They are running what amounts to full-on race suspensions and they suck at everything except running in the dirt. I also suspect they are unreliable, finicky, and generally a pain in the butt. My point is you can do the same thing with any truck so why use a Raptor? As far as running it harder than the stock Raptor can handle; unless you build up the frame, put in a roll cage, install bigger breaks, run bead-locks and otherwise reinforce the truck the result is a half-done safety hazard. If I were some rich guy from the Middle-East where emissions and DOT safety specs are no factor I'd just through down on a Raptor R and put licenses plates on it. It makes more sense to have AC and a CD player installed in a race truck than going the other way.

I definitely think you have some good points. It's good policy to balance speed-enhancing mods with safety mods, can't argue with that.

At the end of the day, what I want in a Raptor is a truck that can handle the job site, can do serious work in the desert, and has a comfortable/hi-lux feel to the interior. The Raptor does that all well, but now that I've had a taste at jumping it, I wanna jump higher. I can't help it.

Just be careful, we like having you around!

Back in the day the Army sent me to Rod Hall's off-road racing school. Rod did not condone beating the crap out of the Hummers. He won a lot of races with nearly bone stock H1s because he kept them dirty side down and in one piece. After returning to my unit and training the guys the way Rod and Josh had trained us, we got far more performance out of the HMMWV with zero modifications. Just as importantly (if not more) we reduced breaking the trucks to almost nothing.

One week of driving training with a good instructor beat 5 years of experience trying to figure it out on our own. I have a feeling the Raptor is better than most of us are.
