I saw that 2 or 3 months ago and don't recall it being a Lab but that's quite alright. Great story nonetheless. Having read it before, I swore it wouldn't get me. I should've known better. I've got an immense appreciation for those who serve and a real soft spot in my heart not only for dogs in general but Labrador Retrievers in particular.

Looks like my black lab. Should be "lap" because that's where he would stay if you would let him. Amazing companion dogs and best friends. Always up for a ride in the Raptor!

What's funny is that I usually check the validity of everything I read on facebook, and I didn't even think of checking on this one.

Ruger, you cynical dog you.... :emotions36: I liked the last line "This is one of those stories in which the facts don't add up, but it still could be true - especially if you want it to be."

If anyone is looking for a way to say Thank You to some deployed guys who will be overseas over Christmas, head on over here :patriot:http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f18/...ilitary-members-13741/index15.html#post568288

Also combining an appreciation for service men and dogs, Joe and I bought our Christmas cards last year from this Organization. America's VetDogs

America’s VetDogs uses guide dogs, service dogs, and innovative technology to help disabled veterans once again live the lives they used to. Not only does a VetDog provide assistance with daily activities, the dog provides the motivation to conquer new challenges. People focus on the dog, not the disability. With a VetDog by his or her side, a veteran is not alone.

I'm an old fart, RW, but I don't think I'm as cynical as all that! I think it's a great story and stories are fun, but we shouldn't get too misty over a fiction.

^The fact that I cried over this instantly is saying something. I have no problem sending 00 or .223 into the side of a deer or human-profile target (real-ballistic type too), no hesitation but shit... this got me emotional as hell. I know its not the same as real combat but I hope that until that time comes I never have to take a human life until I must.
