I have a 2010 with single panel and the plastic tracks have broken twice on me. First time replaced under warranty at a cost of over $1000, second time out of warranty I ordered a track replacement kit from The Sunroof Doctor - Your source for replacement sunroof & t-top parts! for $119 and did the work myself, which was an extreme pain in the ass.
Sunroof/moonroofs in Fords (and other makes) with plastic tracks are notorious for breaking in F-150s, Expy's, etc.
If I do end up ordering a 2017 I'm ordering without strictly for that reason.

Same experience. Mine has given me nothing but problems and wish I didn't have it.

Damn. Now I don't know if I want it or not.... I don't have one in my current truck, but told myself I would be getting it in the next. The whole glass breaking thing in a roll over isn't my concern. I plan to hit up each window with LLumar security film and planned to do the sunroof too. But my #1 pet peeve is squeaky/creaky/rattling shit in my truck. Like, number one in the world. So is it worth it to pay $1,295 + probably $150 to tint it with another layer of film just to lose my shit in a year when it won't stop squeaking? Or if it leaks... Idk. I live in CA, so it would be nice to use it a lot..... Anyone who has one now on a newer truck, does it rattle when playing music loud? Like from the bass?

I see no sense in a sun roof, moon roof, convertible on any sporty vehicle. Causes less structural rigidity or requires compensation, extra parts to break or fail, more dangerous in the event of an accident or rollover (and these things do roll). Just don't do it, or that's my opinion.

I decided against the Moon Roof :)

I've had plenty, including on my current 2015 4Runner ... Its stay's closed 100% of the time. The sun just beats down on me even with it fully tinted.

If it was free, sure, I just won't be spending money on it.

The issue is you can't get the regular sunroof in the crew, only super cab.

I think he means that in the crew cab you can only get the twin panel version that's been prone to rattle and leak, where in the scab you get a traditional moonroof that's likely more reliable.

My wife has the twin panel in her 2015 Explorer and we have had zero problems with the moonroof. Can't speak to long-term reliability but I can say that the kids love it.
