Yea, because it happens all the time.

I certainly didn't think I'd ever be in a rollover accident... then it happened....

Shit happens. I personally feel like having a little extra circulation or view of the sky (whos actually looking up when they're driving?) just isn't worth the risk for me.

I totally agree, it's just a matter of want. For me, I want it since I don't do crazy offroading plus just lifting it a bit and opening the back floating window provides a good breeze. I just laminate it with Air Blu 80 protective clear tint and if something was to happen it will not shatter everywhere.

I have a 2010 with single panel and the plastic tracks have broken twice on me. First time replaced under warranty at a cost of over $1000, second time out of warranty I ordered a track replacement kit from The Sunroof Doctor - Your source for replacement sunroof & t-top parts! for $119 and did the work myself, which was an extreme pain in the ass.
Sunroof/moonroofs in Fords (and other makes) with plastic tracks are notorious for breaking in F-150s, Expy's, etc.
If I do end up ordering a 2017 I'm ordering without strictly for that reason.

The more and more I think about it... the more I just want to skip it due to the leaking / rattle issues that they have had in recent years. While I'd like it, it's not a make or break feature. The price seems fair if I knew I wasn't going to have problems with it. Much better than a grand for "carbon fiber" interior trim lol...

I can't speak for Ford moon roofs as neither of my past 2 Fords had them, but all 3 of my Audi's have them and I love them. No problems at all. I live in the hot Phoenix desert but other then summer time I use them every chance I get for fresh air. The only problem is my wife, she doesn't like them and the air blowing through her hair. If she looked like a mud hen I would ignore her requests and leave it open, but she does have pretty hair :)
I will be leaving her at home a lot and me and the Raptor are going on adventures in nature with my moonroof and rear sliding window OPEN.
You only live once, the chances of your moonroof killing you is about the same chance of getting struck by lightning. Buy it and enjoy it.

Talking over the moon roof with the wife and she doesnt care if I get it or not. I want it because its good for resale, makes the interior look bigger, and it can be useful the maybe 2x a year I might use it haha.

But I really dont want to deal with leaks especially in the winter.

What happens in the winter is there will be a pile of snow on the top, the sun will come out and start to melt that pile sitting on top of the moon roof and the water will just sit there until all the snow melts and seep into the now cold and hard seals.

Searching around the net you can def find examples of Ford moonroofs leaking on new models and then you find a bunch where no one has an issue.

I have a couple months to decide but Im still 50-50 on it.

Im 50/50 on it also, I like everything about it, except for the leaks, and potential for it to break and be costly down the road.
