7 weeks later ... what would you do?

What should I do?

Ordered a 19’ Raptor from a dealer offering bit below msrp back on 3/20

As of today, 7 weeks later, no vin has been assigned.

The order was placed as a “stock” order with priority “80”

After reading the thread on ordering process, looks like is basically slowest way to order.

Am I right in thinking I wouldnt be seeing this truck until late July / early August?

Thinking I should bail on this order and find something already built. Wanting Black with the Recaros is what makes it a bit more difficult to find

What would you do?

Search inventory in your area for the truck you want. If you find one, work out a deal and buy it. Then cancel your order.

I drive past a dealership every day on my way home; Yesterday they had seven Raptors sitting out front, all 802a, two of them black. Of the black, I assume one of them would have the Recaros (dealers love ordering every option to up their profit margin).

If it's impossible to find the truck you absolutely want, then wait on the order. But I can't imagine black+recaros is so unique that it couldn't be found locally.

It took about 4 months for me to take delivery of my special order 2018. It's not a fast process but not too terribly long either. If you want fast, you need to find one on the lot. For me, there were a few dealer with several Raptors on the lot if I wanted one ASAP, but they also had a 20k markup on them. I was more than willing to wait the 4 months to save 20k+tax and also give my business to a dealer who wasn't trying to bend their customers over.

You need to confirm that the dealer had an allocation. Lots of dealers will order you a Raptor but with no allocation then they are just submitting your order into the abyss.

plenty of dealers with stock on hand. Start hitting Ford dealers one by one until you find what you want, then go make the deal in person.

Ask your dealership for a DORA >> Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement

Then ask them to confirm that they did have an allocation. My dealership will NOT place an order with an allocation simply because that would just **** off their customers.

I was expecting 8-12 weeks from order to delivery. At 7

How would I confirm that? Just ask?

that does not look like a dora. I am pretty sure it is a VOC >> Vehicle order confirmation >> which comes from the dealership. A dora comes from Ford and it looks something like below.

VOC are often generated for pricing purposes as to show you how much it cost. Someone can correct me but a priority of 80 is not right.

I ordered mine about a week before you did and I didn’t get a build date until last week. Like you, I wanted the Recaros and the only dealer that had one with them wanted stupid money.

I figure if I’m spending $70k+ on a truck, I might as well configure it exactly how I want. That alone saved me nearly $2k on stickers!

I’d be patient unless you find one that’s exactly what you want.
