6.2 Noise??

The 6.2 is a noisy motor. Random knocking on start ups. Cold motor ticking and noisy injectors. I have a high sensitivity to engine noise though. Both of my raptors exhibited these noises and I have heard it on others. All of my searching turns up with these being normal on the Ford 6.2.

I agree, seems to be a noisy engine, but normal. The fans are incredibly noisy when it's hot with the AC on at idle. But driving is very quiet.

Agree with you on the 10,000 miles sentiment; hence, why I'm not tuned.

As for the start-up, are y'all referring to the kind of grinding noise that happens about 3-5 seconds after start-up, lasts for about 1-2 seconds, and then goes away? Happens nearly every time I start the truck since Day 1.

yeah it is not a clunk but a rough gear engagement sound. a grinding sound. how does this go unexplained?

Well if you don't want to put any e-30 in at least run 2 or more tanks of premium.

Mine isn't just at start up. Left side of motor taps pretty loud and can hear it through the cab.

do you feel any loss of power or anything else unusual other than noise?

Yeah that's called "the clunk". There's a whole thread on it. Even ford technicians chimed in. Basically they said they have no clue. Hahahahaha

well at the snow ball I had to use sub pare fuel imo lol I ran a tank of 89 and 91 notice a loud thumping noise with the hood up. it also started to smell quite bad I'm going to have to drive that crap out and refill with some good stuff.

holy thread revival.....

awesome job finding the thread though instead of making a new one. unfortunately bar hasnt been on here in a couple years. but there are lots of 6.2 owners here. i am not sure of this clunk, since i dont seem to have this problem... but has anything changed on your truck recently?
