sweet! thanks... looks easy enough. so do you think i can mount the crossover inside that side panel and cut the tweeter wiring as it is to connect F+ F- and T+ T-?

I have had C5 JL in my past 3 trucks, and have a bunch of JL on my boat.

How are these going to work with the factory amp? I am not sure here but back from my GM Days the factory amps always ran at weird Ohms or Hertz or something like that and aftermarket speakers really didnt work with them.

These C5s will hook up to stock door and tweeter wiring and the factory amp is going to have sufficient power for them?

the crossover should go in there fine, as long as you mount to something sturdy enough. wiring the tweeter should be simple enough. take it and connect to the input of the crossover and connect the new tweeter to the outputs
I'm interested in hearing your feedback on the difference just those speakers make...

these speakers will definitely be an improvement over oem, but it needs to be made clear that theses speakers require amplification to achieve maximum output and sound quality. aftermarket speakers were designed to run off deck power as well, but you will not see why the speakers cost so much, until the amp is added. bird is going to add an amp in the near future so we decided that its best to put the speakers that he wanted in there now, instead of just putting in a cheap replacement and having to do the job twice.

infinity is a good speaker. but the main difference is the output. the JL speakers will play much cleaner at loud volume.

Not sure I agree with that. Given the higher sensitivity and power handling, the Infinity speakers should be cleaner, but will more readily expose noise from the lower-quality factory electronics - thus making them appear less clean than the JLs.

In my experience with home theater, the higher sensitivity speakers require good electronics for this very reason. Run a set of horns off a $100 receiver and they will probably sound less clean than HTIB speakers.
When high sensitivity speakers are driven by clean power, they don't seem as loud as the lower sensitivity/power speakers because there is less distortion. I went from JBL mid-level speakers to Klipsch Reference series. Calibrated, I found I was turning the new speakers up 10dB more than the JBLs because they didn't seem as loud (because the distortion was gone). The SPL meter showed I was actually listening 10dB louder.

The Infinitys would be at the same volume as the JLs, at half the power. This too makes me think the Infinitys would be cleaner at a given volume because of the lower power draw. I just wonder if they're cleaner enough that they overly expose noise.

I may have to A/B the JL and Infinity myself.....

my 2008 town&country has every thing but the infinity sound system pissed me off who would order any thing with out every thing. the only reason I went with the 08 is the power train warranty we have over 100,000 miles on it already and don't plan on ever trading it in.

you cant really compare home audio with car audio. in the many sound off competitions i have been to, i have only seen infinity a couple of times. they are not known for playing at high volumes as JL is. they are a very good sounding speaker, but for pushing the limits of the speaker they are not the best. this of course is my opinion only, but based on comparing both car audio speaker brands, i find that JL seems to perform better in the vehicle environment
