5th Wheel RV’s

I’m looking at buying a 5th wheel RV and was wanting to see if anyone has one they tow with the raptor. I love the 2013 I have and really don’t want to have to go to a superduty any information would be helpful

It can and has been done(through pics posted by seeing a raptor towing that way), but I doubt you'll find any info here regarding this topic.

But yea, dunno if that's an ideal way to tow with these trucks.

Not likely. They do make some smaller ones in the 7000-8000 lbs range that they claim are half ton towable. 22-24 footers. But I think at that size you a much better off with a bumper pull. They are also tough to find that will fit a Short Box 5.5 ft, you need at least a 6.6 box. Never mind the obvious suspension issues you would run into, though you could rectify those with some mods...you would eliminate the purpose of your Raptor.

You wouldn't be the first guy to do it though, google search it and you will see people doing it

5th wheel is no good. The raptor has around 1000 lbs payload rating. Even if you could find a decent 5th wheel with that low of a hitch rating as soon as you put a passenger in you've exceeded payload. Not to mention how soft and soggy one of these is with a trailer behind it. I pulled a trailer with a 900 lb tongue rating on a WD hitch a few times and the truck did not like bumps, overall control wasn't great either.

I'm sure you could make it work somehow, but a 250/350 will be a much better option - especially for fifth wheel. I had to haul my lathe with the Raptor (7.3 SD had the skyjack behind it). Let's just say at around 9000# she wasn't in a hurry to go anywhere, lol.

I'd recommend an eight foot bed, less chance of hitting the cab if you're in a tight spot maneuvering.
