Just started my first oil change. Removed the oil cap to find this...What causes this? Also drained my Full Race oil catch can. Is this normal after 5k miles?
Thanks

Mikepipe597,
Moisture in the crankcase. Are you in a cold climate? If so condensation most likely. If in the southwest head gasket leak? Engine running OK? Check your oil...if it's ok then condensation...

Thanks Eddie, yes cold up here in northwest IN. Truck has been running fine and oil levels were good. Was just surprised to see.

Mikepipe597,
The first time I emptied my catch can in the winter I found exactly the same. I immediately changed the oil and didn't see anything wrong. I asked the same question, and found that the condensation is common in the winter...and rarely seen in the summer...

I love how a brand new truck has issues like this, yet my 44 year old car doesn't

Don't be jealous, someday you can own a fine piece of machinery like mine.
