You think? Motor trend, road and track are usually pretty reliable aren’t they?

Really hoping for an engine option. EB base and then 5.2 at a premium...I’d be willing to pay 6-8k for the v8 option. Plus it’ll make everyone happy, those who think the EB is better and the V8 guys who think there is no replacement for displacement.

based on the opinion of the ford "insiders" that I have spoken to, I would be 150% shocked if they offered the 5.2 cpc in a raptor.

I get the fun factor, I also have liked the over powered factor. But realistically, can these trucks handle that power or can they make legit use of it? Would it be so nannied down, just to make it useable?

I would bet a 75k Raptor would have an MSRP of close to 100k if it did come out. Many would buy it too. A lot of profit in that truck.

But also add a 10% markup on top of the MSRP as well from the dealers.

There are thousands of Gen 1 supercharged trucks with 600 HP. They seem to be able to use it just fine. There's no reason to ever think something has too much HP IMO. If you don't need it all, don't go WOT.

While I absolutely agree on a stock or mostly stock truck, I think there is a "line".

Once you go full-on build and the truck doesn't telegraph when you're about to *** it up anymore, there is such a thing as too much power.

Hell, 6100s top out at what, 525hp?

It ain't about how fast you can accelerate, but how much speed you can carry.

And while it may be an unpopular opinion, I am not a fan of forced induction on a desert truck. Its just more crap to break in the middle of nowhere.

The next motor for my truck will be a NA V8 and the target is 550-600whp on a 91 octane tune.

That's what matters to you. Others do want faster acceleration, or better towing power at 7000 FT.

Again, there is NO reason you cannot modulate a supposedly "overpowered" engine with your right foot. If you don't need it, don't put it to the floor. It's that simple.

that’s fine if you want to mod out your engine.

but NO manufacturer will put an engine in any vehicle that requires the driver “modulate” the power with his right foot.

I think Ford held true to putting out a purpose built off road/desert runner that would provide ample power and not be an over powered straight line street racer. Sure in most cases who wouldn’t want more extra power than less. I certainly get that. Not to mention these high performance vehicles how purpose built they are, Ford and other brands still have to make them street legal and take into account other uses, owners will need out of a vehicle. It always seems to be give and take.

Look at the new C8, they had to make sure the damn thing can still carry a bag of golf clubs in it for the many buyers who demand that. I’m sure there was compromise there too.

ummm - you do realize everyone running a tune alone on these trucks is DD'ing a (roughly) 500-550 bhp 560-620tq truck to begin with right? I'm running a gearhead tune & I wouldn't be surprised if it added another 75hp to the rear wheels. There are dyno sheets out there showing mild bolt-on Raptors w/ tunes making 450-475whp & 540-570rwtq - that translates into around 550 @ motor. I don't even know if my truck notices the extra power, I haven't told it yet, but it seems to shrug it off just fine lol!!

As other mentioned, you have 600hp Gen 1's out there w/ the weaker frames/trannies & they're doing OK, I'd say the platform can "handle" it - but put it to any kind of good use on road or off not so sure about that
