4WP will not mount tires on Raptor BL wheels....

So as many know I blew a tire running with the ROC this weekend out in Mojave...4WP had a online tire sale so I bought one replacement tire Sunday for $279 no shipping cost and no sales tax...dropped off my wheel after they called to let me the tire had just arrived...

4WP calls and tells me they are not allowed to mount tires to Bead Lock (BL) wheels...I responded to them and let them know they are not BL wheels as they come from Ford.
I told them the so call BL rings are actually beauty rings, and the tire is mounted conventionally to the wheels as any tires are mounted to any wheels...

Then spoke to the Manager, and he just repeated the Corporate line...
How can a company that does SO many wheel/tire sales not know the difference between a conventional wheel and a real bead lock?

Because you have a guy that’s changing the tire getting paid 12 bucks and failed out of tech school and the manager was once their best tire tech that was promoted. Good techs are hard to find, just like contractors, plumbers, and doctors.

Discount Tire wouldn't touch my factory beadlock wheels until I removed the beauty rings myself. Not sure if your HAVE to take them off in order to set/break the bead, but I'm sure it would prevent some tech from scratching the hell out of it when trying.

The lawyers have screwed up America. Since the bead locks are not DOT approved (when you mount as bead lock) they are afraid that if you should have an accident you will sue them. They want to be protected from stupid people, and people who have their hand out.

Correct. And you are in Commiefornia, which makes it worse. You could always take it to the dealer, or a mom and pop shop.

Got my tires at Big O and they had no problems working with actual beadlock rims.

That is interesting Discount Tire and America's Tire are the same company and I bought Method "Beadlock lookalikes" from them in Calfornia and the mounted them. My guess is just ignorance and fear of the lawyers.

I got a nail in a tire about a week after buying my truck. Same thing, Discount Tire wouldn't touch it even though it was just the beauty ring.

The local Ford dealer had no problem with it though.

UPDATE:
1) The beauty ring HAS to be removed to mount/un-mount the tire.
2) I removed the ring before dropping off the wheel
3) Finally - Went to pick up my wheel to find someone who would mount the new tire, BUT the salesman at 4WP said they took another look at the wheel last night and agreed it wasn't a BL wheel as used..

YES they mounted/balanced the tire while I waited!!
