keep in mind, i have not had a chance to run the m&r lights yet so i can not comment on them, but since this is a comparison i felt it necessary to show a couple pics. maybe we can get some m&r pics up too. although it wouldnt be a level playing firld since im using my light in my shop, rather than behind a grill.

I have the 20" Blackhawk light and that **** is bright as shit.. It puts out almost as much as my rigid 40" I had. Plus the great thing is a lifetime warranty with no questions asked! And as you can see from Noah's pics that the 40" is super bright and yes tou can do a full 8 degree spot on the bar. like you said the tighter the beam the more light you'll have going out and not getting blocked by the grill. I'm gonna e ordering some more Blackhawk LEDs from TMX in the next few days cause these things are amazing! Hit up Brandon and he will get you taken care of for sure. And tell him pat sent ya!

Too many exclamation points...therefore your opinion sucks.

WSI highly recommends the 40" Blackhawk to our customers on a budget. It's bright, the quality is fantastic, and it stands up to hard offroad use, with zero issues. Get the Blackhawk.
I thought you were in bed with Whalen?

You can kindof tell if you look closely at the picture, it looks to me like there's 8 (4 top 4 bottom) on each side that are flood. I could be wrong about that but when I saw it I was wondering the same thing and that was what I figured out.

One concern I have about the TMX bar (and I haven't asked them about this yet, so I could be wrong), but just looking at the pics it looks like their bar sits about 1"-1.5" higher in the grille than say the M&R or rigid bars. That doesn't sound like a big deal until you realize that it puts more of the light behind the "FORD" rather than the mesh. Anybody want to correct me on this?

I didn't even think about the bar being higher. Perhaps TMX can post some pictures of one mounted that shows its placement?

Ive sen these in person, very bright. Looks great. I think the light can be mounted lower if you wish. Thats a TMX question. I plan on getting the Blackhawk lights.

Plus Blackhawk just sounds cool.

If the TMX mounts are a little taller it would be a good thing. The lower valance under the grill blocks a lot of usable light from getting to the ground, where it matters

I didn't think about that, good observation Steele. I have emailed TMX about the mounts, I am waiting for them to get back to me. I will post up their response.

I will say from seeing them at TRR 13 I had a very hard time trying to figure out which light was a Blackhawk and which one was a Rigid. Only after someone told me which one was which could I kinda tell them a part and that was only based on who's truck was running what. These blackhawks sure impressed me and I was very skeptical at first that a cheaper priced light could do what the more expensive lights do. You won't be disappointed with a Blackhawk!

I've been thinking about ordering a 40" bar at some point. At this point the warranty kind of sways me on the Blackhawk. Both brands have survived various Raptor runs and according to M&R and TMX they are both available in a spot-only configuration if you special order that config.

Also, WSI is suggesting Blackhawk instead of Whelen because Whelen does not currently sell a 40" or similar light bar. You would have to have multiple mounting tabs on a custom bracket behind the grill to support multiple Pioneers or Pioneer Slimlines and this would NOT be cheaper than a 40" M&R or Blackhawk.

Personally, I plan to add more unobstructed Whelen Lights to my front and rear bumper before I drop money on any kind of light bar that's going to see anywhere from 30-50% light loss projecting from behind the grill. To me, the light loss makes even more of a case for saving $$ on the light bar unless it'll be a temporary mounting location until you get a new bumper or a WSI bed-mounted lightbar.
