When you guys with a 36 gal tank fill up what does the distance till empty read when completely full?

I just programmed my truck with Forscan, I was use to it saying 510 or so at fill up and now after Forscan programming it says 590, but its seems to be re calibrating itself. I guess when I reprogrammed it, it must have reset the DTE calculation.

It depends on what your recent mpg has been. If you’ve been caning the truck off road, or similar, the DTE is lower. If you’ve just stopped on an interstate to refuel and been getting almost 20 to the gallon, I’ve seen as high as 620

YMMV.

Yup, it's a relatively worthless number since it based on how you were driving not on how you will be driving.

I wouldn’t say worthless. Remember the era of the big block? The cars where you could step on the gas and watch the gas gauge drop, proportional to your throttle input? It was kind of satisfying to watch the gas gauge drop as you accelerated.

Similarly, it’s kind of fun to cane the truck and watch DTE drop

Here's the thing, the more you push it the 'better' the computer seems to calculate. Numerous of mine have said 0 and I go fill it up and there's at least 2-3 gallons left typically. Run it past 0 a bit, 10-15 miles and after that it seems to calculate better. Last time, about a month ago, I was pretty nervous, think I drove about 25-30 miles past empty, just no gas stations and didn't think it would drop off that fast on last stretch...headwind. Filled up with ~36.5 gallons before it shut off.

I try to get at least 500 miles on a full tank, or else what's the point of having a 36 gallon tank?

I remember that my 80 y/o grandpa would always want to get gas whenever he was half empty.

it sounds like a lot of members on here remind me of my grandpa

When the big one hits So. Cal a lot of people are going to wish they had half a tank.
