I had a choice of 35 or 37 at msrp. I chose the 35 so I could put aftermarket light weight wheels with 37’s. Not much difference in the 2 that would cause such a dramatic demand for a 37. Why would I want a 45lb wheel from ford and pay extra for it.

To call a 35 a pos base model is pretty funny though. Basically same everything but wheels and a bigger spare tire area (please educate me if wrong).

Can’t believe I wasted my time even writing this.

and those that do are idiots for overpaying for a depreciating asset. Kind of like buying a stock at it's high when stocks EPS is overvalued, something they don't teach you at Harvard business school. As Warren Buffet says, " get greedy when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy " .
They do teach you how to value assets in any business school and many other variations after simple valuations to account for intangibles like asset use. But, your knowledge of valuation is amazing, please enlighten us oh so much more. These trucks are actually appreciating assets, the aftermarket is higher than the MSRPs (if you can get it). Long term they will depreciate, but not by the amounts that would make it a bad investment, given the practical use you get out of them. But, stick with your bs and bad mouthing others as much as you want.

A wise person once told me, “if it flys, floats or *****, it’s cheaper to rent.” However, Buffett does not follow that logic, because he can afford not to. Buffett does not fly commercial, he has several private jets…..because he can afford it.

On that note, people are idiots that pay a Bellman at the Fairmont to carry their luggage when they can carry it themself. Is it because people are idiots, or they can afford to do it? As for your stock comment, you probably know, it is impossible to time the market and a truck is not an investment. It is simply something people are willing to buy. I personally think if someone needs a loan to buy a vehicle, they should probably buy something cheaper, or invest, so one day they can pay an ADM and sleep well. Lastly, in a perfect world people would agree not to patronize a dealership that charges an ADM, however it is almost impossible to get 3 people to agree on anything. Maybe AOC can add free trucks to her free collage stuff.

After speaking with various ford dealerships, one thing is really resonating. There appears to be a high demand for raptors with 37 performance packages and very little demand for raptors with 35 packages. Some dealers are saying that they are not getting allocations from ford for 37 raptors , even though they know they will eventually get allocations ford will not commit to how many and when, while others are saying that they have 35's on the lot or they can get 35 allocations but most customers don't want a 35 raptor and are not interested. What I see coming is a lack of demand for the 35 raptor and a over demand for the 37 raptor. Basically the 35 raptor has turned into the base model POS raptor that nobody wants, what does this mean ? 35 raptors will be over produced and dealers will not be able to give them away, which means if a smart buyer is patient and does not mind a raptor that is going to depreciate heavily because of over supply and lack of interest, there will be some great deals on 35 raptors by June or July, just like what happened to the 2019-2020 gen. 2 raptor just before covid hit. Remember before covid, 2019-2020 raptors where selling for 6-8,000.00 dollars under msrp. In my opinion the smart move is to wait for the 35's to drop in price, which they will, or try to buy a 37 package for no more than MSRP. I have a opportunity to buy a 35 package now at MSRP or a 37 package at msrp. The problem with the 37 package is ford will not give the dealer a allocation or when the allocation will be. So I will probably just wait for the demand to plummet on 35's and save myself $ 5000.00 to $ 8000.00 on MSRP.

It's to bad the 35 raptor has turned out to be the base model POS raptor that nobody wants or cares about.
The POS Raptor that is 99.9% the same truck as the 37. Could be upgraded to be a better truck for less money than a stock 37. That is a good one.

To each their own, but here is no loyal in business, unless you are a high volume client. If one person will pay a premium and another cannot, that is capitalis. Those that can will, those that can’t will *****, human nature.
Yeah, I agree, if we limit the discussion scope to say, the debt collection field. In other fields, disloyalty; real, or perceived, is the death of high sales. Unless you’re in a business which doesn’t need to market itself.

Short term, in a static analysis any stealership evaluating the upcharging is surely seeing dollar signs, it’s the business trying to capitalize on an in demand asset. I don’t have to pay that extra money, nobody’s holding a gun to my head to do it, so I don’t. Of course, the other side of the spectrum may do exactly as you’ve indicated; impatiently pay for the privilege of being an early adopter. The analysis doesn’t take into account the long term reputation hit taken, and how many are driven away for feeling the dealer is attempting to take advantage of them. Also, real or perceived. Customers run the entire spectrum but the percentage of that spectrum that are willing to drop over MSRP is statistically very low, so can you afford to cater to that crowd, vs. who you are alienating to do it?

Money is made in parts, service and financing. Vehicle sales don’t hurt, but aren’t everything. It’s like going WFO to be the last one to hit the brakes in turn one. You won’t win the race being first to turn one, but you can definitely lose the race there.

Actually you can't train stupid to wear a mask.
