2nd Row Room Between SCAB and SCREW?

I have two small kids (grade school) with one in a car seat. I have the SCAB. The truck before was a Tacoma Double Cab. The space is about the same in the SCAB compared to the 4 door Tacoma except it is way wider. The suicide door is a bit of a pain if your kids get in they just can not close the front while they wait for the adault to lock up the house or whatever. I like the SCAB looks and parking the SCAB better in more dense urban areas or cities. I will likely need to get a SCREW in about 5 years when the kids are moving closer to High School but I will hold out as long as possible and until there is a V8 option again.

Do you do a drop off or pickup line at their school when in the Scab? Any issues?

I usually would reach across and pop the front door. My kids are old enough that they’ll open the suicide door themselves. Then it’s a simple “tuck and roll” later and I’m kid free, looking for the best off-road route out of the parking lot! Lol

First, I can't recall which is what but I know the nicknames are Screw and Scab right?

What's the difference in rear seat legroom between the two? I assume everything else is the same and the only difference besides the doors is legroom right?

Scab = Supercab, short version, smaller rear passenger area, better for offroading. Lighter than Screw, 26 gallon tank
Screw = Supercrew, 4 door version, great for use as family vehicle, better for passengers and interior cargo room. Heavier than Scab, 36 gallon tank - Longer range.

Can't go wrong with either, you need to determine what better fits your needs.

Learning to work with the suicide doors took a little kid training. They are too little to reach up and let themselves out right now. I miss the extra storage of a SCREW. The SCAB doesnt have behind the seat storage and with the sub under the passenger rear there is less room for stuff. Car seat has about as much room as a tacoma double cab but much wider. I do not pick up in the mommy line at school. The kids ride the bus and if i am ever off work i swing by and pick them up. I have the littlest one on the passenger side and just unbuckle my seat belt and pop my door. They jump in kid 1 buckles kid 2 and we are off. I like the smaller size of the SCAB. Parking is a son of a gun for width but having the SCAB is just a little easier than a SCREW. Either way it is a trade off and you will learn to work around it. I have a toneau cover so stuff that is not used all the time is there now and i keep just what is needed in the cab area. I actually like it more because it prevents the kids/wife from bringing everything and the kitchen sink in the back
