That price seems steep for a lemon
A point of clarification: This is not necessarily a ‘lemon’. I’m not aware of whether or not CA “Brands” the title or not but this notification could be triggered by a voluntary buy back by Ford.
Back when I had to sue, voluntary buy backs were unheard of. Now, the manufacturers read the tea leaves and make a judgment on whether or not they can actually repair the vehicle or not. Again, that wasn’t the case when I sued. That said, Ford could very well have simply not been able to source the part necessary to fix it. As an example, there are ZERO Raptor transfer cases laying around in inventory for repairs. None. If you break one, it’s going to be down until they manage to source one.

Moonroof tracks on the other hand, are ubiquitous, and only take about a day to procure at worst. If this is one of the fancy power tailgates, it could have been a case of running out the clock.
Or it could have been a legit lemon, I’m just pointing out here that it isn’t necessarily a lemon.

78.5 is A LOT for that. You can shop around, get a new 35, throw on some 37's and not have to deal with that.

It's not a 78.5 truck. it's a 68k MAX
I tend to agree
Seems a little ridiculous a tailgate issue can cause a buy back..

Do some searching but there is no issue running 37s (especially factory takeoffs) on a 35 Gen3
See above. It’s typically >30 days down and >1 visit. Some states make it more strict for a ‘safety’ component issue- loss of steering, brakes, etc.
You can easily trigger a lemon law waiting for parts on a Raptor since at least 2017.

I’d want to see an oasis report on the truck and do a pretty thorough pre-purchase inspection, and a long test drive. ideally multi-day.

I had a tailgate issue on my truck. Was a module that needed replacing. Took a day to diag, 3 days for parts, day to fix.
This is why I don’t buy that the tailgate was the reason for the buy back. Unless the original owner just wanted out of the truck

Thanks again for everyone’s input. Ended up pulling trigger on a 23, dealer /manager driven demo. 88msrp 35. So basically everything.

82.5 for their truck and they stepped up on my 14 and added a tonneau cover. Feel like it was a pretty good deal with the trade considering the high msrp.

I was trying to work a deal on a 37 pack but they wouldn’t take another 2k off. I don’t need the 37s honestly.

Picking her up tomorrow…
