“airqualitynews.com” is by no means a legitimate source. As far as air pollution, private transportation, including clean diesel, is not responsible for the smog and particulate matter issues seen in cities in China and India, the world’s two most polluted countries. The pollution is due to unregulated emissions from commercial and industrial sources. If it was the result of privately owned vehicles, NYC and LA would look like Beijing.
Blaming consumers for the pollution emitted by industry and government operations is just another way to pass the buck on to the little guy. Airplanes, cargo and cruise ships, heavy duty trucks, buses, construction equipment, etc do not even have emission controls; they simply dump their pollution into the air. Nobody bats an eye when semi trucks roll thick black smoke into the air, but if you have a check engine light for a small Evap leak, the state will literally take your vehicle off the road.
Going after the cleanest, least polluting transportation is counter productive to improving air quality. The major sources of unfiltered emissions need to be addressed before the emission - CO2 - from consumer vehicles is made the scapegoat and the government forces consumers into are buying expensive, unreliable, throw away junk from companies like tesla.
