i just took delivery of this and have about 700 miles on it. while driving earlier, the brakes went soft and an array of warnings popped up on instrument panel... first "check brake system" then "service advancetrack" then "park brake limited function service requried" then "hill start assist unavailable" then "precollision assist not available" and then "service advancetrack" again......and in the top right, the brake warning light is on as well as the ABS symbol.... the brakes seemed to work at about 10% of their regular grab until almost stopped and then full bite on them came back leaving the vehicle swaying on the suspension. i limped it back home and let it sit for about an hour. just started it up and the problem seems to have disappeared. that was scary! anyone have similar experience, know anything about this, etc?

Welcome to FRF

Dude... Regardless of what you find by way of doomscrolling you need that truck TOWED to the stealership for repair.

There is ZERO benefit to a brake problem, especially on a 3 ton truck.

I’ve experienced exactly this type of failure thrice before on a G*d dámned bmw --on Susten Pass coming into Andermatt, Switzerland. I can think of few scenarios worse than losing brakes on an Alps mountain pass. Other than having your wife with you when it happens - oh wait, that is what happened. There were 2 things that kept us out of the weeds. 1) wife was with me, so we were traveling briskly, but not stupidly. 2) The MSF class that I got my mc license through. I downshifted hard from 4th to first, and just before I hit first the brakes hit at 100%; full lock up for about a second or 2. I rolled through the hairpin and the coasted to the next one and pulled in at a scenic pull off. Once the fault occurred, the ABS switched off, which reverted to non-abs brake function. I didn’t know this at the time and had to make do with a cursory inspection to make sure we had a rideable bike. Unfortunately we started up and the ABS circuit reset. I did a short ‘test’ of the brakes with some hard stops and it held, so we headed down the mountain. In all this time- about 20 minutes, not another vehicle in sight. We get to the bottom, about a mile from the hotel - the Metropol at a stop sign. There are 4 bikes stopped there, jawing at each other. Yup, it’s moto-bowling time, abs faults again as we’re coasting to a stop and we end up right in the center of all 4 of these guys just as they take off. How we didn’t manage to knock off our luggage or theirs is mystery. That bike had to be grounded and replaced by the renter. Another story of frustration for another day.

My advice; take it for what it’s worth- DON’T drive the truck. Get it towed to the stealership of your choosing and let Ford make it right. And if it happens again, get the truck bought back, no waiting, no passing go, no collecting anyone on the highway. Brake problems are no joke and if they can’t make it right the first time, they won’t make it right on subsequent tries.

You just described the EXACT same problem I experienced today in my 2025 R. I have nearly the exact same milage as you too. Scary is right!

I was on the highway going 75mph when the dash started lighting up just as yours did. I just began downshifting and took the next exit ramp. Thankfully was able to stop safely and nurse it to a parking lot.

Tried the old "turn-off-and-on" but no help. Decided to disconnect the battery as I didn't have a scan tool with me. Pulled the ground cable from the battery, and left it off for a minute or 2.

I tried to fire it back up but it cranked for a longer period of time than usual, but eventually it came to life. Everything looked back to normal and stayed normal for the duration of the 30 mile trip I was on.

Got it home and tried to replicate by Changing the different drive mode settings, trying the e brake. Etc. But all seems OK... This is a spooky one though!

Calling the dealer tomorrow.

brake booster or air in the lines would be my guess, but theres a reason theres a warranty. use it.
I don't think so. I'm 99% sure this is an electrical issue, sensor, etc.

When the issue clears up, all warnings end and things are right back to perfect. Obviously don't get that kinda behavior when you have failing parts or air in the lines.

I've owned hundreds of vehicles over my 50(something.. ish) years, short of a 75 year old shit box, I've never experienced ANYTHING like this before.

This is never supposed to happen with modern vehicles.. I'm still shocked at how bad it was and how many people would have panicked when realizing they had ABSOLUTELY NO brakes.. And potentially killed them selves or worse. It was truly unbelievable.

People are going to be killed very soon when more trucks start doing this. For me to so easily find someone on this forum who has experienced the exact same problem, means there are thousands of trucks running around with the potential of complete brake failure just waiting to happen.

Just one old man's opinion.. But, what do I know..?

Mine just did this pulling into car wash bay. It is a 24 with the 3.5 v6. I have had a few service parking brake messages before but have ignored them until today. I have 3600 miles.
