i did search for this on here and found nothing... if there is something on this, can you direct me to it?
Welcome to FRF
Dude... Regardless of what you find by way of doomscrolling you need that truck TOWED to the stealership for repair.
There is ZERO benefit to a brake problem, especially on a 3 ton truck.
I’ve experienced exactly this type of failure thrice before on a G*d dámned bmw --on Susten Pass coming into Andermatt, Switzerland. I can think of few scenarios worse than losing brakes on an Alps mountain pass. Other than having your wife with you when it happens - oh wait, that is what happened. There were 2 things that kept us out of the weeds. 1) wife was with me, so we were traveling briskly, but not stupidly. 2) The MSF class that I got my mc license through. I downshifted hard from 4th to first, and just before I hit first the brakes hit at 100%; full lock up for about a second or 2. I rolled through the hairpin and the coasted to the next one and pulled in at a scenic pull off. Once the fault occurred, the ABS switched off, which reverted to non-abs brake function. I didn’t know this at the time and had to make do with a cursory inspection to make sure we had a rideable bike. Unfortunately we started up and the ABS circuit reset. I did a short ‘test’ of the brakes with some hard stops and it held, so we headed down the mountain. In all this time- about 20 minutes, not another vehicle in sight. We get to the bottom, about a mile from the hotel - the Metropol at a stop sign. There are 4 bikes stopped there, jawing at each other. Yup, it’s moto-bowling time, abs faults again as we’re coasting to a stop and we end up right in the center of all 4 of these guys just as they take off. How we didn’t manage to knock off our luggage or theirs is mystery. That bike had to be grounded and replaced by the renter. Another story of frustration for another day.
My advice; take it for what it’s worth- DON’T drive the truck. Get it towed to the stealership of your choosing and let Ford make it right. And if it happens again, get the truck bought back, no waiting, no passing go, no collecting anyone on the highway. Brake problems are no joke and if they can’t make it right the first time, they won’t make it right on subsequent tries.
