Who knew so many Ford owners left their keys in the truck? I remember my dad doing this in his Lincoln back in the late 80s/early 90s, but times were different back then in the town I grew up in.

I’d be scared to use the keypad for no other reason than a thief breaking in just to see if the owner left the key in there. I’m surprised I don’t hear more about Ford’s being stolen due to the key fob being left in the truck like an invitation.

I spend thirty to forty days per year camping in the backcountry. I lock the keys in the console vault. Whoever gets back first can get in. In an emergency, they can drive to the extraction point. I spend another thirty or forty days doing day hikes. I like to lock the keys in the truck so I don’t lose them. In town I never use it.
