2024 Raptor shock corrosion.

I just picked up my 2024 shelter green Raptor a few days ago. Love the truck so far and shift smoother and rides better than my 2017. However, I spent some time detailing it over the weekend and I noticed that three of my four shocks seem to have some corrosion on what looks like to the electronic valve area. It will not wipe off. And I do not want to send it. I was considering painting it but is this common on a brand new truck? Will this come back? My old 2017 Gen 2 did not have any corrosion at all on the shocks even after 6 years.

I believe they are bare aluminum, so corrosion is unfortunately expected. Not sure if there's a way to address this with Ford or if it's anything other than cosmetic over time honestly. I'm sure @FordTechOne can advise.

I have the single valve. They appear to be anodized or something similar. Curious why it has corroded already.

There’s no saving those. Ano has been eaten through. On anodized aluminum, accelerated corrosion like that is usually due to caustic chemicals or galvanic corrosion. Some car wash soaps are acidic and could do this if not diluted. I have a suspicion that galvanic corrosion is playing a roll, though, since the solenoid is on a steel post of some sort and has spots where liquid could easily be trapped between the two. The fact that the solenoid is energized potentially doesn’t help either. If for some reason the aluminum housing isn’t fully insulated from electricity it would really do bad things to the ano. My 22 which has a good number of mountain pass miles on it does not look this bad so it’s not just salt spray alone.

My 2024 has this as well. Quite literally was that way the day it showed up from the dealer. Might be part of the sitting in the lot waiting to built but not sure. I spoke with my local dealer and am waiting to take it in for a remedy/response. Won’t be for another month though. My dealer is stupid booked out. I’m taking it in for this and like 8-9 other items like the passenger ventilated seat fan grinding against the seat. Crazy shit for a truck like this lol

Is this considered cosmetic or is it something that Ford would fix. Seems a bit shoddy that brand new shocks look like this from the dealer. It can only get worse.
