The cab corners rust because Ford did a poor job of coating the steel, and maintaining those coatings while welding parts together.

The rockers get way, WAY more water in them from just driving down the highway in the rain for say 1 hour, then will ever come from the sunroof drains during the entire life of the truck.

The drains only carry away what gets past the seals, which is basically nothing.
It’s not nothing when you live in an area that gets 13-15 feet of rain in a year. My gen 1 leaks profusely. Specifically got the R without. Never again. And yes the rockers get a ton from driving. Wish I would have known how bad it could get back in the day I would have film coated or cavity waxed the whole thing.

Thank you so much for this info! Mine leaked terribly again this weekend and I was about to call the dealer back but feared they would try to replace the whole roof. I'm going to try this later this week!

I see a lot of the leaks from the overhead speakers. I have a video on how I fix them and another on why I think it happens on my YT channel. Short of it is, I believe the water runs down the "leaf spring" that is the arm for the sunroof deflector. It ends up in the "mechanical" portion of the track, where water is never supposed to be, and therefore there are multiple places it can leak into the headliner. The prime one is directly above the roof speakers.
My fix, which is more of a "treat the symptom" type of deal, is to seal all those places off. There's really no way I've found yet to prevent the water from getting to that part of the track, so I fix it this way and it's been very effective so far.

Had a sunroof on my 18, 19 raptors, 2022 Tremor and 23 Raptor.

Only had 1 issue where the plastic lift mechanism broke.

The sunroof is 100% a service item. Needs to be lubed yearly, operated monthly by venting first, and then open and closing. Drains need compressed air at least every 3 months.

Once people realize this and understand that it's no different than regular oil changes, air filter changes and air in the tires, majority of these issues most likely would go away.
