It would be cool if someone could lay hands on a new one, not installed, and see if it behaves the same.

So, it doesn't do it when cold?
The first video was cold and it doesn't do it. It shouldn't behave this way and cause a thumping feeling or sound in the steering wheel. It seems to me like it's a bad run of lower steering shafts.

I went and checked mine, it's cold. I do get some movement and a slight clunk moving up and down.

Sounds like mine is more. It's going to have some movement but should not do what mine is doing where it causes a thumping feeling into the steering wheel. This is all with one or two fingers with very minimal pressure. I tested my friends 2021 -35, it's defiantly not like mine. My other friends 2023 - 37 PP doesn't do it either. As you can see in my videos, the retractable part where the yellow rubber thing is, seems to be binding. Yours might not be bad enough to give you that feeling into the steering wheel.

My wife should be home in a bit, I will try and remember to check her truck, also a '22.

I would have done a buy back by now. Truck market appears to have tanked. Might get a better deal on the replacement. I would just call ford and tell them you want a buy back and get it. After 30 days at a dealership, its a done deal.

I agree, but if the fix would be the lower shaft (even though it was replaced once already) I think I would be happy. Unless, Ford wants to take mine and give me an R. :p

If you're not feeling a thump in the steering wheel you should be ok.
Okay, mine definitely moves more than hers. I do feel it in the wheel I think, I honestly quit paying attention to it. It's probably not as bad as yours, but my '18 did not do this. I will try and pay attention tomorrow if I hit any sweet jumps.

When the shocks unload after a big speed bump there is a thump. Nothing on the up-travel at all.

Check yours after a 7 mile drive. It will be hot so be careful. When you do it once let it stay in place for about 10 seconds, then try moving it again. It seems to be sicking.
