It will finally catch and even bring cool stuff to the table but then be stuck like that for 15 years! I'm curious to see what they offer up.

Everyone has copied the Raptor if that is a benchmark. The marker lights are being used on the Ram along with it appears the new Tundra. I luxurious truck will be a would be a hit look at the Lincoln F150 clone Mark LT.

Lincoln needs another truck, it would be kind of cool to launch the new EV F150 under that badge but they have brought back the Lightning nameplate which is a slap in the face to all those early Lightning models.

On the RAM TRX it's a DOT thing. I doubt the Tundra is wide enough to need the amber lights. So I wouldn't say RAM copied the lights since they are required. But the Tundra looks to be a copying situation.

I think the Tundra marker lights are likely because it is wide enough to require them by DOT rules. Notice the fender flares have markers too. Everyone copies the Raptor's grill lights. But nobody takes the time to copy the markers on the fender flares. If Toyota went to that time and expense, then it was probably a legitimate need.

We may be looking at a special TRD version that has a wider base similar to the Raptor. I would be surprised if the standard truck were over 80" wide.

So if (and I mean IF) Toyota can come out with a V8 pickup that is a genuine Raptor fighter (again, IF), that only adds to the 3rd Gen Raptor debut mess.

Maybe that's why Ford decided to run with the R. Not from fear of Ram, but from fear of Toyota. If Toyota can come up with a real contender, they could be a threat in a way that Ram can't. People are so used to seeing Fiat drop a hellcat into anything with wheels, selling it for a year or two, and then dropping it like a bad habit once the initial profits have been milked that it's hard to take them seriously.

All rumors indicate they are going twin turbo V6. Some people even think they're going with a 3.5L TT V6, similar to one of their Lexus variants. So I don't think we'll see a V8 in the next gen Tundra. And I don't think it will have a more compelling engine option than the Gen 3 Raptor. And if they debut that it's a supercharged 5.7L making 550hp, I will be sooo happy I'm wrong.

When you say 'everyone' we are only talking about aftermarket grilles. To my knowledge, there isn't a stock truck that comes with marker that doesn't require it by law. If this tundra isn't over 80" wide, than this would be the first with 'fake' lights...as far as I know. I would tend to agree that they wouldn't do it unless it's needed.
