This might be a stupid question but I pretty much only use my head unit in CarPlay mode. I have v3.3 on a 2019 and am curious if the move to v3.4 has any updates that make CarPlay either better or different.

I went from Sync 3.0 to Sync 3.4 and saw some new features. Notably, apps now work via bluetooth instead of having Sync plugged into the phone. I was able to use Pandora and IHeartRadio without plugging my phone in. It seems like Wireless CarPlay should be possible in future updates... hopefully.

As for CarPlay, any improvements would have to be from Apple as shown from the jump from iOS 12 to iOS 13.

This is my app running over Bluetooth:

I’m also talking about AppLink, like when you tape “Apps” and then tap “Pandora” or “IheartRadio”, it now links up to the phone app and you control the app via Sync.

I’m not talking about streaming music over bluetooth where you can only browse and search for songs on the phone.

For those that have made the transition are you guys able to use Forscan and reprogram your APIM to allow Nav in Motion? Does that all stay the same?

Also, are you guys running the latest 3.4 , the option #3 version?

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

Yes. The Nav in Motion Forscan setting works with 3.4 (option #3).
