Owned my 2019 for 3 months and 4K miles. No mechanical issues, but some with the technology:
- Sync system has frozen once and I had to pull the fuse to restart it and get the screen to shut off after powering off the truck
- A handful of times, the sync system will not recognize that my iphone is plugged in via usb thus not allowing apple car play activation. Phone simply connects via Bluetooth only. Issue generally resolved its self after turning off the car for a period of time.
- my first time off-road, the computer threw the following alerts (both at the same time): 1 - hill start system “detected a failure” and, 2 - forward collision system “either detected a system fault or an obstructed radar sensor”. When these alerts triggered, the truck switched out of Baja mode and would not go into any drive mode other than “normal”. This issue eventually corrected itself on my drive home, but ended my brief off road trip early. This was about a month ago and have had no issues since then.
Planning to bring all of the above issues to the attention of dealer for their thoughts when I go in for my first oil change in the next couple of weeks.
Other than that the truck runs great and oil levels are all OK based on a check (my first and only)of the dipstick at 3,800 miles. I’m definitely not getting anywhere close to 16mpg, but I blame my lack of self control with the right foot, it’s just too much fun to spool up the turbos!
I definitely don’t regret buying the extended warranty as I feel the weak point of this vehicle is with the computer system/technology. Time will tell, but at least things are covered for 8 years/ 100K miles.
