When I was living there 2 years ago, I tried to buy a Base SCAB Raptor at 3 different dealers. 54k msrp.. Which I would have GLADLY PAID, but Not a single one of the dealers was willing to budge on their $30k markup over sticker. Making those 54k trucks, 84k WITH the 9% tax and fees on top of that. It was insanity. So I went and got me a brand new TRD Pro 4runner instead.

I'm in California and just bought a new 2019 Raptor. It seems most any dealer in California is still marking up over MSRP. In Northern California where I am, they are wanting $5-15K over. They are somewhat negotiable, but if you get close to MSRP they act like they are doing you a big favor. Ridiculous. Friendly Ford in Nevada has some at $5k off if you ask. The So Cal dealers I called said they sell well at MSRP so they are not offering any discount as they don't need to. Not sure how true that is, but I totally respect that a seller can ask whatever they want and enjoy or suffer the consequences of their pricing scheme.

So I bought one at Klaben Ford in Kent, Ohio. $9500 off MSRP, cost me $1600 to have it shipped. Took 15 minutes via text to secure the deal with Tyler, then a little paperwork via next day air. I much prefer to buy local and I will pay extra to do so, but not that much extra.

Call Future Ford in Sacramento and ask for Tyler. He's a member of these forums and will sell you a fresh '20 under MSRP.

Cali sucks in many ways and overpriced everything is just one. I left in 1991 after 31 years. But now you have In-n-Out......so all is forgiven. Now go to Arizona, Texas or Nevada and get your Raptor. Oh, and welcome!

DO NOT buy a new Raptor in NV. It's an "island." They screw people here because we are far enough from other places, and close enough to California to keep the new car prices high. From Vegas, go to Utah. They are generally more reasonable. I always buy used, and I actually got mine in 2016 from the mid-west. It only had 7k miles, and was the same price as ANY 2014 in Las Vegas, regardless of miles.

i bought mine out of Vegas last year, $1500 under MSRP. My local dealer wanted $20,000 over. i could have purchased one in Ohio for $5,000 under but was concerned about paying Ohio sales tax. turns out after registering in CA the sales tax would have been credited against CA tax. Buy out of state, but make sure it is CA compliant as there is a sticker under the hood stating as such. Good luck.

If you are buying new or used, I would be happy to recommend a guy I and several people I work with have used in the past. He is an "auto concierge," and was in car sales for many years before he started his concierge business. No commission, flat fee, takes your list, gets exactly what you want, handles shipping, paperwork, phone calls to dealers, etc. and negotiates a pretty killer deal. Knows a lot of tricks. It's not for everyone, but people who use him like him. Extremely good with negotiating leases for anyone who leases their other vehicles. I don't personally, but anyway, he's good at what he does, especially when you are after specialty vehicles.

His name is Dorian. https://www.openroadac.com/
