3% inflation, $ 70K truck = $ 2,100 increase without adding new features. Shocks are only one of the new things, although probably the most expensive.

Is inflation that much?

My build went up $4k, and lost the moonroof to boot. If inflation is really that bad, then that means the extra cost is about $1500-$2500, which is alright considering the shocks and trail control. But still, a $4k price increase overall is too much for me, especially losing ambient lighting and the moonroof. Plus Shadow is better than Agate IMO

compare how much the truck increased from 2017 to 2018. Did it increase by 3%. Prob not.

I say Trump Tariffs and Ford is just spreading the increase around to all parts so customers don't panic.

I would agree with you but the price just went up on the truck about a month ago and that increase was to offset the gradual increase in price of parts.
Does it sound right that I can order a 2018 today with a moonroof option of $1295 and put in an order today for a 2019 and pay $1595 for the exact same moonroof? The price should have increased on all the moonroofs as of yesterday if the price went up.

This is just my 2 cents, but of course they are going to maximize profit. This is a truck that up until recently (and still in California and other places) has been receiving a healthy ADM.

In my view, and I could be completely wrong, they planned this for quite some time. Doing enough to give it a differentiated feel from the current model, coupled with the press release highlighting the “new Ford Raptor” with new shocks, beadlock capable wheels, and an updated interior gave them an opportunity to raise the price of the truck as interest has grown the past few months. They did this instead of the normal “inflation/new year” price increase. To me, that is smart marketing, if it works.

They should be greedy on the Raptor if the market accepts it. This isn’t an entry level car/truck. There is really no competition for it right now and people have been paying extra. Also, depending on what happens, the ADMs could be lower or go away since extra dollars are already in the price. This could ultimately lead to goodwill because they would now be selling at MSRP and not over. I would be looking at all options if I were them. Start with an ADM where people will pay it. Don’t if the market won’t accept it, but they still make more money with the increase.

This group provides more info and educates more than the average consumer will probably ever know, but it probably represents a fraction of their Raptor sales. How many people are doing the research you and the people on this forum are doing?

For me, I’m willing to pay the increase. I was going to buy a 19 regardless of what updates were in it. I like the upgrade so it makes the increase more acceptable to me than if it was the same vehicle - their marketing worked on me, lol.

What you said makes sense. I don't like it but it makes sense... lol. I already have a deposit for one so I was in no matter what. Now the worst part.... the wait.

For reference, between the '17 and '18 model year changeover, the price increase was only a few hundred dollars (and if I remember correctly, most of that was from a bump in destination charge).

Ford seems to add their inflation adjustments during the model year and not at the changeover. No doubt this '19 bump is mostly Trump and the shocks. It also means the inflation adjustment will be coming along in a few months on top of this.

And here I thought paying $70k for a truck was stupid. It looks like we are well on our way to routine $80k builds.

You getting it through Raptor4You? Has he reached out to you yet? You know what position you are in line? I’m # 5

I'm getting mine from Marshall Ford in Missouri. They're getting an allocation of 4 and they're already spoken for. They're offering them at $1000 under MSRP. I was told today that I'm #1 out of 4. HotLap got his 2018 from the same dealer and they honor the price when the order is placed which is cool knowing how much these trucks periodically increase in price.

Not true. They had a mid year price increase also.

Reread my post. That is exactly what I said. Ford mostly does mid-year price increases so the year-on-year price increase looks small. This big jump in price between '18 and '19 is not normal.
